Hi Chesna-

A great place to start is the secular web, which is at www.infidels.org. They have many books - but you also may like an easier introduction via some of thier videos or tapes. Another good and related site I happen to know of offhand is www.deism.org (Deism is not quite Humanism, but is surprisingly similar in many ways).

As for books, there are plenty mentioned on the infidels site. You could try one that influenced our founding fathers, including Thomas Jefferson - it's "the age of reason" by Thomas Paine. It reads quite well for a book that's two centuries old! Books by R. G. Ingersoll and Russel are also classics of Humanism. :hahugh:

Agnostics/Humanists/Atheists/Freethinkers are all names for people with a Naturalistic worldview. As a Naturalistic Pagan, I can speak for them. Let me know if you have any specific questions that your books and websearchs don't answer.

Blessed be-

The nice thing about being agnostic is that you can draw inspiration from anything. Even works that claim to define God quite thoroughly can be treated as metaphors.

Humanism is by its nature secular, but as I always tell people, being religious doesn't mean you can't have any good ideas. You don't NEED a reading list - just grab what interests you, even if it's something on gardening. You're making your own meaning, so who cares where you found it? Intellectual dumpster diving has some neat results.

Although its description would make you think otherwise, I think If You Meet the Buddha On The Road, Kill Him! is a great primer for spiritual growth and exploration. There are always lots of used copies (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0553278320/104-4068128-1505562?v=glance&n=283155) available for those on a budget.

But this is just what I like. And any other recommendations are what other people like. When your focus is secular, personal taste plays a huge factor, so don't let yourself get narrowed down by someone else.
