Creating my own tarot deck

When I started this i had no idea how much time consuming work it would. and mostly I am making work for myself because i am not only creating the tarot cards for my own deck but I am also going to lengths of coloring them by painting them on canvas which will later be down sized to card size.. and oil paint takes so long to dry before more applications of paint on the canvas.
I am in incorporating my religion into my cards, so that makes them a bit unique and being that they are my work each card contains an essence of my personality. A friend once told me that when she looked at my cards she sees me (she does alot of tarot readings and so I often show her the freehand sketches of my paintings before i begin).
Anyway so far I have the first three cards finished and I have been doing this for 2 months almost.. next is the Empress Card. I already have the sketch completed and waiting to go but I have to wait until some previously scheduled projects get done first. not that I mind, it is nice to take a brake and paint something else that will bring pleasure to someone.

Anyway has anyone else made their own cards and have any advice to give about creating a deck?

Greetings MoomWolf! I think it's great that you are creating your own deck!

I, on the other hand, don't have much talent with drawing/painting, so I make due with the cards I've acquired!

I too, have no talent in that field! But I did want to say that is incredible! What a great idea. I have used about a dozen different decks until I found the one that suits me at a little shop in Salem MA. I since had to order another one to use when I give others readings because I hate having to keep cleansing my deck. I would love to have a deck that I made myself the energy would be incredible with it...Best of luck. Let us know how it comes along!!!
