Like probably everybody here right? but anyway, i wouldn't have considered myself very spiritual until recently. I"ve read a few books here and there but have been pretty non-commital (sp?). This was until I read this Book of Lights. ITs a free eBook and here's the link

I thought after reading this short book that here is a philosophy I can get behind. None of the hierarchical bullshit you find in so many "standard" religions and a, what's the word, cosmology that is encompassing and sensible even in this modern time. I wonder if it doesn't fit in with physics as well.
anyway, i wonder if anybody else has read this book and what your thoughts are. Is it pagan or paganisic? Its certainly not cathohololic/protestant/etc.
It seems to me that paganism is about empowring the individual? casting spells. using energy? Am I right? If this is the case, this is the ultimate empowerment. All about the nature of energy, how it works, what to do about time/space/etc.
anyway, rambling and bordering on stream of consciousness so I better shut up

I am as well a recovering Catholic.. I grew to realize that there was way too much that I couldn't and wouldn't believe.
I have not read that book you describe...but maybe I will!!
What I do know is that you will find a wonderful community ofpeople here to help in way that they can. I know they helped me almost 2 years ago when I was in your same position.
Feel free to PM me anytime if you want to!!
Blessings!!

what I diskliked the most about the whole catholic thingy was the guilt andhierarchy and the "unworthiness" that is foisted on everybody. You get tired of hearing your nothing but "dirt" after a couple decades
that's what I like about this book. It teaches that you are, in fact, God. Not "a" god or one god but THE God. I know it sounds heretical and it probably is but the exp.anation of why that is is absolutely beautiful. and the cover art is amazing. a christmas tree of consciousness....
how do you find the pagan way?

Hey welcome. I have never been a Catholic but I was one of those heathen Protestants. I have gone back and forth between Christianity and Paganistic stuff to the point of nearly melding the two. I don't know what the heck I am and I could not be happier about it. I'm sure you will like it here as there is a rather diverse representations of religions here. Take a look around.

My husband is the only other person I've heard using the term "recovering Catholic". He says it's like being a recovering alcoholic...it's always a little part of you, even when you know it's bad for you!!
I grew up as a fundamentalist, charismatic protestant. If anything will screw you up, that will.:awilly:

Recovering catholic here too. Mind you the on campus catholic group still try to get their claws in me every once in a while... well, every time i see them and can't run.
There's something that makes a woman feel so worthless about being catholic. WEll, to me, atleast. Something about being told that it was my role to be a mother and a wife, that's it. Being the cause of all sin. Completely degrading.
Well... that's me biatch... i'm bad to the bone. lol.
kidding! I'm nice! honestly!
