View Full Version : Lymphoma or Leukemia- Energy PLEASE!

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a thread about my 12 year old daughter and the possibility of a cyst. I was finally able to get her into the doctor's office today and at first they didn't to be to concerned, but when he really started looking at it, I could see his expression change and not for the good either. He gave her an antibiotic, but then also decided to draw blood. He said that because of the size and the location, it was a very good possibility that it may be either lymphoma or leukemia. She is so young and I don't want her to have to go through any of this! She took the news like a trooper, but while I was explaining it to her, I tried to do it very gently and just gave her the basics so that she wouldn't start freaking out. I, on the other hand, am totally freaked out! I am refusing to let her see it, but I just don't know what to do. I have to sit here for the next 2 or 3 days and just worry and fret about it. I just lost my dad to 3 types of cancer a little over two years ago and I am just lost over this. I don't know what to do. I want to stay strong for her, and I will, but I feel as though I am falling apart on the inside. She is my beautiful baby and I don't know what I would do without her. Please any energy that any of you can spare, we both need it. Thank you so much for always being here for me.

I thank you all and so does Codi-Lynn. I took her to her dad's this afternoon as I had to work. It seems like he wasn't even concerned. He had friends over and was laughing and having a good old time. I sent here there because the antibiotic that she is on is 875mg. and she has never been on anything that strong. I wanted her to be with him while I was working so that he could keep an eye on her, I was afraid of her having an adverse reaction since the antibiotic is so strong. She called me at work at about 10:30 because she was feeling very light-headed. I asked her where her dad was and get this, he was sleeping! I made her wake him up and check her for a fever and so on. My boss was so upset about this, that she sent me home to get my baby. She is sleeping soundly here in my bed. She looks like a little angel. I will keep you all updated, you are my only support system and I love you all so much! Thank you for the energies that you have sent and continue to send.

May the Goddess watch over you both and protect and heal your little girl. May her results be benign.

Just wanted to give you all an update, I tried calling the doctor's office a little bit ago and they are not open today. This is so incredibly frustrating! I am doing my best to hold it all together, but it is very hard. What is making it worse is the fact that her blood work results are probably sitting right there on his fax machine and I can't get to them!
I do want to thank each and every one of you that is sending energy and prayers our way. Believe me, I do believe that they are working. These prayers and energies are what is keeping me going true and strong. I am still having my own private moments, but at least I am able to stay strong for Codi-Lynn. She is so awesome! She knows (to a degree) what the results may mean, but she is continuing to be herself and smile throughout the day. She has the power to keep me grounded. Just looking into her beautiful eyes makes this all worth while.
Thank you for your continued support!:)

I'm so sorry for what you are going thru. My daughter is also 12, and I can't even imagine.
Does your doctor have an emergency contact number on his voice mail? I'd certainly call and leave a message stating your concern and how waiting is killing you. I did it when I was waiting for the results of my pregnancy test with my first child and they were very understanding. I'm sure something this important would be fine. :hugz:

They have an answering service and unless it is "an emergency" the message will have to wait until they come back into the office.

Thanks VM for letting everyone know for me! I was sitting by the phone all day waiting for the call and then I had to go to work so I was unable to post this wonderful news myself. I thank everyone for the energies and prayers that were sent out to us both. She is still having a great deal of pain in her neck and now it seems that she is beginning to get a cold or sinus infection. She is just so miserable!
Although I am thankful (boy am I) for this news, I was on my way home from work and at 2 AM, I had a baby deer run into my driver's door. It punched a hole in the door and I am not sure if that is the only damage to my car or not. I know have to worry about coming up with the deductible to have the car fixed. When it rains, it pours. I went back and looked for the deer, but did not see it any where. There was a car next to mine and it slowed down and a very large deer ran across the road, I thought that was the only one, until WHAM! I never even saw the damn thing! It had to be a baby, it punched a hole in the door and there was a bunch of deer fur sticking out of the hole. Oh well, as long as my baby is going to be okay, I can't get too upset about my car.
Again, thank you for all of your support, as soon as I know anything else, I will let you all know.

I talked to her doctor today and he wants her to continue taking the antibiotic until it's gone (even though the lump is no smaller.) He said that if it hasn't helped by the time she finishes it, he will send her to an ENT. Several years ago, she had a cyst on her temple that had to be removed and when I took her in, that is what my initial concern was. I guess we'll find out soon enough.:weirdsmil
As for the whole deer incident, I am not going to have to pay one red cent to have my car repaired.:abanana: :abanana: :abanana: They are even going to give me a loaner car while they work on mine.
Thank you all for your continued support, I will keep this thread updated.

Did they check her for Mono? Maybe it is a cyst, some folks can be prone to them:fpoke: Anywho, great news:fpartyfav :fpartyfav

No, as near as I know they didn't check for mono. I guess because of it's size and location, is the reason that they will be sending her to the ENT. I just hope that the specialist will be able to get her in right away. I would hate to keep waiting to just get an appointment and then wait again for the results of whatever the tests they would run on her. Waiting is not one of my stong suits. I am very impatient when it comes to the health of my children. I guess now I need energy for patience and a quick appointment with the specialist. As soon as I know anything, so will you all.

Just wanted you all to know, Codi-Lynn is going to her doctor tomorrow. I'm sure that she will be referred to an ENT. The lump has gotten no smaller and her antibiotics are now gone. My concern, at this point, is that if it is a cyst, how much damage me have been done. Because of it's location, I am ultimatley worried about her hearing. It is directly below her right ear and you can feel it all of the way up to her ear. Continued prayers and energy are appreciated.

And the saga continues, took her to the doctor yesterday. No better and no worse. He decided to keep her on the antibiotics for another week and if it still hasn't responded, then he will set up the appt. with the ENT and get a MRI done. I wish that he would just do that now! The reason that he is putting it all off, is because where the hole in her earlobe for her earring is, there is a spot that looks infected and he feels that there is a possibility that this is what is causing the lump. He said that air may be getting down into that lymph node which might be causing the swelling. I don't know, sounds like B.S. to me. That "infection" wasn't there before when this entire thing started. Will keep you all posted.

CzechWoods
January 22nd, 2006, 02:31 AM
hmm, cant he give her a liquid antibiotic that is applied directly onto the "hole", like they would give you when you have ear infections ? those are far less hard on the body, less site effects and yet very effective as they work locally (at least with ear internal infections that is)

also maybe you can get a second opinoion ?

sending you energy and thoughts.

sweeties, you and your daughter

Willow Rosette
January 22nd, 2006, 12:23 PM
I agree with CzechWoods. If she is still in pain Id see if I could make a Dr.'s appt with a new Dr. Get a second opinion. It wouldnt hurt and maybe a fresh mind would help with new ideas.

AineDanu
January 22nd, 2006, 03:31 PM
And don't forget that when all else fails - take her to the emergency room. Sometimes that is the quickest way (except for the terminally long waiting rooms) to get a bigger test done. I would try for a second opinion first, but if that ends up taking forever and if your doctor will not listen to you regarding your feelings on having to wait then I would go to the ER.

I am keeping both of you in my thoughts and will continue sending healing until this is resolved. I am so glad you are keeping the updates coming:) Although I wish there were no need for them:( HUUGGGSS to you and your daughter for all of the worry.

wyldwolf
January 23rd, 2006, 06:34 PM
She is no longer experiencing the pain, I am so thankful for that. As for the antibiotics, I decided to not get them refilled. She took them for 10 days and nothing changed. We are putting Neosporin on the "infection" site. I will take her back to the doctor and let him think that she has continued the antibiotics. She does not want to keep taking them as they are not working and I am not thrilled about the possibility of her continuing to take them either. Her body could become immune to them and then when she really does have an infection, they may not work. Not to mention the fact of how hard they can be on her body. What do you all think? Am I wrong to not continue the antibiotics? As for getting a second opinion, I just changed jobs and right now the only insurance I have is Medicaid and I can't afford to take her to another doctor. My insurance will only cover her if she goes to this doctor. Even if I did have the $ to take her to another doctor, by the time I got her in to see them, she could have gone to the original doctor. The hospital ER rooms up here are a joke! My son had an accident this past summer and his bottom lip was halfway detached from his face and was bleeding badly. It took them 6 hours to get to him! They weren't even busy and I was raising hell, but they were too busy eating their pizza to take care of him. So, as you can see, I think that this really is my only option at this point.

AineDanu
January 24th, 2006, 02:19 AM
I've dealt with ERs enough to know that sometimes they really suck but sometimes it is just that day. It can depend on who the docs are that day. I understand about medicaid as that is what im on and they make life a misery with all of their rules and restrictions. As for the antibiotics, if you both feel that they are not helping then I cannot see the point in taking another round. It can be dangerous to take them for to long especially with how easily we become adjusted to them. I just hope you can get some answers soon and this is resolved. Until then I will keep you in my thoughts.

BlueMoon13
January 24th, 2006, 03:37 PM
Hhhmmm. Well, if the neosporin seems to be working, and the lack of pain sounds promising, I'd keep on that. Not too sure about the antibiotics, if they're causing the rest of her body to be sick. If things are'nt dramatically better by her next visit, insist on an ENT referral. Just becasue you're on Medicaid means your daughter should get the _wedgie_ . Stuff like this just makes me go :awilly: !

GalenaFaolan
January 24th, 2006, 10:18 PM
:hugz: I don't think she should keep taking the antibiotics. It's obviously not done a thing for her and you're right to worry about becoming immune. It doesn't make much sense to take something that obviously isn't working. So just wait for the next appointment with the doc and let him think she took the antibiotics. He should have referred her to an ENT this time IMO. I hate doctors, they can be so stupid.

I'll be thinking of you both and sending energy. I'm glad she's not in pain anymore though.

Willow Rosette
January 24th, 2006, 10:58 PM
I agree if the meds arent working then putting them in her system is not a good idea. But what if they are why the pain is gone?

Can you take her to another if you get a referal from the first? Most times if you give him the name of who you want to be refered to he will give it.

Either way honey you know I love you both and support your decision. You both are so brave and I am so glad to call you part of my family. :hugz:

We love you too! And I am really glad for all of the support that all of you have given to us. It really does mean so much. I am going to take her to the doctor on Friday, so hopefully, she will have a referral to the ENT and possibly for a MRI. She has been off of the antibiotics for about a week now and there is still no change in the size of the lump. Also, she is a bit of a drama queen, at times I really wondered if there was any pain at all. I know that probably sounds a little bit harsh, but if she thinks that there is something wrong with her, all of a sudden, there is pain. She has been that way all of her life, I like to give her the benefit of the doubt, but the question is always there, is the pain real or imagined? Thanks to you all for your continued support, it is what has gotten me through so much of this!
Blessing to you all.

Wyldwolf asked me to update this last night and I got tired and busy and totally forgot.

Im sooooo sorry

Anyway here is what is going on. WW oredereda healing oil on line and had Codi-Lynn wear a bloodstone necklace and between the two it started going down. The over the weekend WW got a call from Codi_Lynn's father that there is a new lump. She said she was going to call the Dr. today and get the referal to the specialist.

She is so scared and feeling like she is at the end of her rope. She has the strength to make it through this she just needs some help finding that strength.

Please, Please keep praying for them They deserve it so much. :hugz:

They are always in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that they finally find out what is going on. Even if the daughter is a bit of a drama-queen, and there is no or little pain, the lumps alone are something to worry and be checked for. I am glad that they have stayed on top of this so well and im very thankful about how well you two have kept us up to date as I wonder often how things are going. I have seen such wonderful strength and love since the beginning of this that it brings me much joy to have witnessed it, although I wish there were no need for it.

OMG! This doctor is going to drive me nuts!!!!!! I had to schedule another flippin appointment with her doctor since there is a new lump. It is for Friday and I refuse to leave there without a referral to the ENT and a MRI this time. They refused to make these referrals as there is a new lump now to contend with. The only blood tests that they have done were the original ones. I am getting so frustrated, you know, if this were his kid, I bet she would have been at the specialists as soon as the first lump was detected. Insurance sucks and the lack of having a good one is even worse. I am ever so thankful for all of the love and support that you have all given to us. And VM, I thank you for getting this updated the other night. I have been working so many hours these past 2 weeks and it has been a little hard to keep this thread updated as much as I would like too. VM has been such a great help to me in this thread and many of my other little crisis that life has offered up to me here recently. You all have helped me to stay strong and grounded and I thank you all for that. I think that I will need massive amounts of energy for Friday morning, so that I don't rip that doctor apart! Hmmmmm, maybe he's the one that needs the energy to make the right choices to send her to the specialists and swallow his pride for not knowing what the hell is wrong with her.

AineDanu
February 1st, 2006, 11:59 PM
I hope he wakes up sends you to the specialist. I think you are more than in the right to insist upon a referrel at this point. If he still denies it then tell him straight up you want a second opinion and he needs to schedule you with another doctor while you wait in the patient room. Not the waiting room as he can then ignore you, if you wait in the patient room he has to tend to you before he can put another patient in the room. :P

Anyway - just a thought. Huggggss for both of you and energy as well. Stay strong!!

I just took her back to school after taking her to the doctor. He did give me a referral to an ENT today! Now after all of this time, the lumps are so small, that we had to search for them today! It was like just overnight, they shrank and all but went away! I am thanking the Goddess and each and every one of you for all of the love, healing and support that has been given to us in this time of need. The lumps are smaller than the size of a pea at this time. I am praying that they continue their shrinking and at this time tomorrow, they will be gone. Maybe this doctor really did know what he was talking about, maybe it really was just a very bad infection brought on by wearing cheap earrings. I don't know, but I think that when this is done and over with, I will have to take her out and buy her some 14k gold earrings. Thank you all again, I will continue to update you all and when the lumps are completly gone, what a celebration we will all have!

I guess it really was just an infection after all and her own body's restorative powers and all of the prayers and energy sent to her from you all is what has healed her! I really don't think that the anibiotic had much if anything to do with her healing. It was each and every one of you, your love, concern and compassion. Thank you to each and every one of you!
