My friend has just lost his job and for the stupidest reason I've ever heard. He's been sick for a couple of days and even though he should have stayed home, he went to work today with a 102 F temp. Half-way through he was just getting worse so he decided it would be best to go home... and they fired him because of it. I don't think it's right that you loose your job just because you go home from an illness. Now he doesn't know what to do... he'll have to give up his car because he won't be able to make payments and doesn't know how to make his bills or rent... and if he does get a job it won't pay near what he was getting. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Blessed Be.

get him to see a doctor and get a note from him confirming his sickness
then phone a lawyer and sue for his job back or compensation
im pretty sure they cant fire you for being ill

I agree with Kal - have him talk to a lawyer and get a doctors note. If he cannot afford a doctor or does not have insurance have him go to a local health clinic. They have them all around and most work on a sliding scale fee if they are not free.

Kal's idea is good, but if your friend is in the Military, it may not be easy.
Sending energy for emotional strength and physical healing for your friend.

My friend has his job back!!! He's not a manager anymore but he's just greatful that he has a job. He called Human Resorces and they told him to go to work like normal... when he showed up, his Manager paged him and was all "Glad to see your back to work and feeling better..." WTF!? lol... I guess HR called his ass and made him see a new light. Thanks for all your support. This couldn't have happend without you!!! Blessed Be.

I am glad your friend has his job back but how do they justify his demotion over one sick day? (Just curious - it does not seem right.)

I'm not sure on that one either... I'll ask though and see if we can't find out... Thanks again!
