Along with everything else, it seems I have developed diabetes. I am taking pills for it tho, not shots. Ken just found out 2 weeks ago he has it too, he takes pills too...
I told him I caught it from him. :hahugh:
If you can spare some energy, We would surely appreciate it.

My friends mom has it, but it's actually made her a ton healthier (with the lifestyle changes she's had to make) which I guess in the long run is good.
My dog also has it too but that doesn't really count. They're lucky in that they have that scruff of the neck, you can give her a shot there and she doesn't really seem to feel it. Too bad we don't have one of those. :hahugh:

Not that this is any news to you, but stress can raise sugar levels, and Iknow you have had your share lately.
Talk to your dr about taking Holy Basil. It is supposed to help relieve stress, and lower cortisol levels that can raise BS levels.

Yup. Stress can play a major role in the onset of diabetes. So can a diet that's rich in fats. I'm not sure exactly why, but I do know that both fats and sugars need to be managed. It would almost certainly be a good idea to talk to a nutritionist, as well as getting dietary and exercise ideas from your doctor.

I am not diabetic, but on a medication that makes me crave sugar, and chocolate. I turned to sugar free candy. I found sugar- free creme savers, chocolate and caramel creme, yummmmmmmmm! I have given samples to many people, everyone agrees it's wonderful stuff! Splenda is great stuff, as long as you don't eat too much of it!

I think I mentioned we have the same Dr, and we had back to back appts on Fri.and our Dr. is also a friend...When he walked into the room, he said "Do you two do everything together, appointments and diabetes?" I wasn't that amused....

Awww. I know how it feels, I've had it since I was 14. It's hard not being able to eat as much sugar anymore and drinking diet pop but you'll adjust eventually. ^_^ Sending ya lots of energy.

OW, old friend, I'm sorry. My ex had it, and I had to learn to cook for him, which isn't easy when you're also raising a bunch of teenage boys, but we got through it and so will you. If ya ever need any sugar free, great tasting recipes, I'm your diabetic chef!!!!

At least trying to control your diabetes will be easier doing it together. Think positive and don't fight it.

Ugh! I know how you feel, diabetes sucks! Take heart though, once you get used to all the "crap" that goes along with it, it will become second nature. Just watch out for those carbs, they can mess with your bloodsugars something rotten. Be careful with over the counter meds as well. NyQuil was my life saver when I'd get colds but can't take it now, gotta take the diabetic cold meds now. Make sure to get your eyes checked regularly as well.
Good luck to you both & energies sent your way!!

My husband developed Type 1 diabetes (the insulin-dependent juvenile kind) late--the year we were getting married. He was 27. So we've had major lifestyle changes over the years to deal with. If you need to PM me, feel free--I know more than I ever wanted to about the disease. :)
