Pendulums are negative/evil?

I was skimming through a site of ghost stories and stumbled on to a discussion on Ouija boards and the negativity associated with them. Quite a few people said they refuse to use pendulums for any reason because of the negative energy they give off. Is this a common occurance or not? I've never noticed anything negative or evil when I've used one so it seemed really out there. Not to mention how would you even be able to tell if it was positive vs negative?

i dont think it is an instrument per se, but the people that are using it or trather they way they are using it.

a knife isnt evil, you can use it for cutting a slize of bread , for saving a life (think: surgery), for protecting yourself or for killing or many other things. it is what you do, and how you do it and why you do t.

now the ouija boards are designed to communicate through the subconscious with spiritual realms.

whatever drives your car, you know, but i dont like that kind of communication, basically because most the times, the entities answereing are some bored astral beings, who are playing their games with those who will listen.

so if you use a ouija or a pendulum, to have some bored spirit anser you, letter by letter - you seem to have awhole lotta time at your hands and not much to do.

if you need to contact spirits, be presize whom you seek to talk to, and use a pendulum propüerly.

ask the right questions (thiose that can be clearly answered by yes otr no, and use it for divination.

I am using pendulums professionally, cant see anything eveil about that

A pendulum is a tool, like a ouija board. Just tools. Nothing more, nothing less.

Personally, I don't like Ouija boards because I feel they are too open. Maybe if I became more familiar with them and learned how to properly use one, then my opinion might change. As for pendulums and dowsing rods, I am comfortable with them, since I know how to use them. I do not think that a tool can be "evil" persay, but I do believe that if an inexperienced person were to use them, it could have negative results.

comes right out of hollywood to program fear into folks


kinda like every tarot reader for tv shows and movies draws the death card (please cue music)

and talking boards open a portal of doom..........

I had some frightening experiences with Ouija boards when I was younger and never touched one again. But then someone told me to cast a circle before using them, and that made sense to me.....
As for a pendulum, I don't think other entities speak to you thru a pendulum...I think the pendulum taps into your inner psychic abilities and reveals answers to you. But thats just how I see it :)

Ouija boards freak me out to no end. Just like Faeawyn, I had some really nasty experiences with them when I was younger. And I mean really nasty stuff. One of the spirits we accidentally contacted started messing up big time with one my friends. He almost ended up in a mental institution because of it. *shudders at the memory of it all*

As for pendulums, they are not the same at all. Again I must agree with Faeawyn, they tap into your own psychic abilities and therefore the only entities you may come into contact with while using one are your spirit guides. My pendulum has never once failed me. I use it to locate things and people and to get answers to very simple yes or no questions. Never felt any negative energies while using it, especially not from the one I have that's made of Rose Quartz. I have one made of Amethyst and this one is a little more intense but not in a negative way.

I don't believe that any divination tool is evil! It's all in how you use them.
If you do a protection before and after you use anything,even a Oija,you should be fine. I've never had any problems.

I agree that these are just tools to help you achieve your purpose for using them. I believe that they echoe whatever intent you imprint onto them. I have heard that ouija boards can be scary but that is also usually by people who have no idea what they are doing. I believe that if you (like Faewyn) said cast a circle around you and the board and any other poeple that might be there you are opening yourself up, but only just.
