OK. it's not realy MY tree... but I bonded with it!
ok, I'm a Virgo, and VERY green... I bond with plants. MY ex landlord sold the house to another guy, he sold part of it to the state so they can widen the road. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Now the sole reason why we moved he is going bye bye and we can't affornd to move.
Point is.... they CUT DOWN MY HICKORY TREE:crylaugh: !!!!!!
I loved that tree!!!!
And the realy sucky thing is.... It wouldn't even be where they were going to pave... not even on the shoulder!!!!!! Just in they way while they worked!!!!!!:flamer:
They cut down a good, healthy, producing tree for NO GOOD REASON!!!!!
DANM!!! I've seen hundreds of trees closer to the road than this one would have been!!!!!
I am ssoooooooooo upset right now!
progress......BS!!!!!!!!!
The other side of the road is all field for about 15 acers down! But noooo! they have to thake 3-10 feet off of here!
I'm sorry if this seems trival to you..... but I just need to vent!:help:

I know how you feel... our neighbours at the bottom of our garden just yesterday cut down a lovely evergreen that was down the bottom of their garden. Too much trouble i suppose, or it got in the way .... *gives them severe look*

How terrible. People don't think before they do things. And they certainly don't stop to consider how their actions will effect another being, tree or otherwise. Could I suggest maybe planting another tree in memory of the one that was lost? :hugz:

I'm a virgo as well so I completely understand! I'm sorry you lost your tree, but how about planting one somewhere as a 'remembrance' of sorts?

I'm sorry for your tree. I can relate. They LEVELED the woods behind my house a few years back to put in a gas line. I never cried so much.

I understand very well, how you are feeling. I remember the day that my brother cut down an Evergreen tree, I cried as I watched it fall. He said there was a reason.. I can't remember what, I do remember Bird nest, and how my cat loved to sit on the window(inside) and watch them It was
"the birdie tree" So sad, now they are both gone.

Sorry to hear about your poor, beautiful tree :( But remember that all things live on in spirit :)
I agree with aislin; how about planting a new, baby tree in remembrance? :D

It's not a matter of people just not thinking....it's a matter of their not caring. The majority of people see the earth as theirs to use how they will, so it wouldn't even cross their minds to consider not cutting down a tree, etc. *shrug*

I had a wonderfull Eucalyptus tree I bonded with in my old house. Even though I dont miss the POS house I deffinately miss that tree. So I totally understand how devistated you would be. Can you get a piece of it? From the ground or something? That way you can at least honor its beautiful existance?

My SO is always getting upset cause tree cutting unnecessarily is common around here.
The big fad in this region...developers are buying up wooded land. They section it off into small lots. Then people buy the lots and cut down all the trees!! Its like that all over our area...if theres woods, theres going to be developer getting ready to make big money with stupid people buying the lots and cutting down the trees.
There is plenty of open old farmland around, but they don't bother with that as much. They get a higher price for the wooded lots even though the people cut them down and make it bare like the farmland!!
Stupid people!!!
I wish the trees could bite back!

Thank you all for your responces.... I cried all over again reading them....but this time it was was because I found people who understand!!!:hahugh:
I did save some branches, (as many as they would let me :( ) I'm going to at least get a wand out it, and maybe a cane. As for planting another tree... hummm, a may know a couple of places I could do it. I do have a few nuts left I haven't cracked yet, but I think there is a trick to getting them to grow. If anyone knows it would be great! rember it's(was) a HICKORY tree.
Again Thanks ALL!!

I agree with you--that's just IDIOCY. And I'm sorry about your tree, Cindlady; I'm not a Virgo, but surely a Pisces is just as attuned to the environment. I myself have gotten rather accustomed to a miniature tree (not a bonsai, but it's very small--just about two-three feet high) that my mom bought three years ago, and I'd be sorry to see Mom sell/give it to someone else.
More to the point--where would all their millions of dollars be if all the trees were gone? Not that I want that to happen, but they're actually losing money in the long run and making it harder for everyone else to breathe air. I mean, when you think about it for around five seconds--money is made from trees.
You know what? We should start using all that recycled paper for MONEY. Or at least some of it. I don't care if something's not made from ancient or "hundred-year old" forests, I care if it's RECYCLED. We really should start thinking about new and present forests, because they count just as much as the ancient ones.

Sadly what I'm about to suggest comes a little too late for this case but hopefully it may help someone in the future.
Three years ago the same thing happened to myself. A friend noticed that a person living down the street from me was landscaping his yard and found out that a mature birch tree was going to be cut down. When he told me about this we desided to get in touch with a local tree transplanting company and quickly found out that the cost of transplanting a tree is not much more than cutting one down and having the pieces removed. The only problem now was where to replant the tree. After some phone calls we found out that the local university would be willing to take the tree off our hands. The deal we made was that the land owner donated the amount of money it would have cost him to have the tree cut down and removed and the university kicked in the rest. In the end everyone was happy including the tree. The landowner got rid of the tree and the university got a new mature birch for a fraction of the price it would have cost them any other way. Since that time we have done this with 9 other trees. In all cases everyone walked away more than satisfied with the results. No money was spent by myself or any of my friends in this process. All it took was a little time and effort.

GRRRRRRRRRR......... I yelled at my kids when they just broke off little branches for no reason!:nuhuh:
Wolfsong...... I realy like that idea! Wish I would have thought it.... months ago! I don't know if it would have worked here though... the land was sold to the State.
OH... and to slap me in the face even more!..... We now have a bright new ELECTRIC POLE in our yard 4' from where the tree was! So now instead of looking out at my tree I get to see it!:flamer: I don't even want to look outside anymore!:(
