Crap...
I had an answer all typed out and then noticed a typo. So I edited it for the typo, which made me re-read my response...and I immediately disagreed with myself, so I have deleted it. *sigh*
First I was thinking "post count". Then I went on to explain that it means "meaningful" posts which are not all just silly (but of course some silly ones are meaningful too). Then, I realized that some newbies have a rather high meaningful post count because they are asking so many questions....
So, now...I don't think post count has much to do with it at all. Please disregard my blabber.
So....when are you no longer a newbie? When you feel like it. That doesn't necessarily mean others will recognize you...but there are folks here who joined YEARS ago who post very infrequently, so they are not recognized, yet they are also not new.
Then you have people like me, who are not necessarily new to the site, but in may aspects of my learnings I am definately still a newbie.
So....I don't know. But this response was much longer than the one I edited, that's for darn sure!

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you're title under your name says newbie you can that under your user cp option. If you're comming to this site to learn beyond that of a newbie I'd say that would depend on your level of participation and weather or not you have a mentor...
All in all I'd say its the experience you get from these kinds of sites. But you've got to out there and get it. membership alone doesn't do squat.

Dependent upon how you define Paganism, I am not new. I am new to this forum and to this style of discourse.

New to Peagan, Wiccan, MW?? Exactly what are you new to? If you are new to anything being "NEW" is only a state of mind. You are never old because you always learn something new everyday, every moment.

I'm new to Paganism and new to web sites like this. Sooooo, I consider myself a newbie and will for a while because I'm not knowledgable enough to advise nor mentor nor counsel someone about Paganism.
