I was just curious who we all were. We honestly don't seem that similar and in that respect are kinda the same.
Just wondering thats all. I've started a barbecue and NO there are no hot dog buns present...unless you ask.

Excellent, an old school mix. I'm pretty certain that combination hasn't been seen since Troy.

I seem to recall a song called "Safety Dance" which brushed upon the very concept.

Soon enough, if we keep up with "the program".
I'm playing everyside for my own benefit here. So far I've managed to get on 4 opposing teams.

I'm nearly finished with Eldora's list of names for the emails, though I dont know if any websites have started to print what I sent them yet.
And the Conservatives are still bugging me about rejoining. Its tempting, for precisely the sort of reasons you imagine, but I cant help but wonder when they'll catch on...

Hey Malcom, question for you.
How much credence do you give the theory that Loki and Prometheus had the same Indo-European ancestor? When you look at their myths, there are a hell of alot of similarities, from them both being giants, to being friends of mankind and the punishments each were inflicted with. I found it an interesting idea myself, especially given some later writers have drawn links (not as definite as above, but still...) between Prometheus and the Christian Devil too.

I haven't really thought about it honestly. Prometheus isn't part of my pantheon so my knowledge of him is in passing at best.
My first reaction is to say no. But thats only because I believe the gods are individuals.
Do you have any links I could look at? Its kinda intrigueing.
Edit: I just grabbed a wicki on prometheus. Yea they have some similarities but nothing that I would say traces them back to the same point of Origin.
Their punishment is alike but differs on a few points. One Promehteus is freed. None can be sure if Loki was ever actually chained or not. There are conflicting accounts in the eddas. If he was chained he won't be freed untill Ragnarok...and we all know that hasn't happened yet, I think.
Prometheus made man. Loki "may" have been present at mans creation, but if it is him its not a name that is ever ascribed to him again. There are passages in the eddas that make mention of three gods Odin, and two other guys you never hear of again...to my knowledge...anyway its speculated that one of them may have been Loki.
Prometheus was the father of ritual sacrifice to appease the gods. I can't find anything Loki did that is similar to this.
Prometheus children became man and the other earth dwelling creatures. Lokis children were monsters, apparently...Odins horse, Hel, Fenrir etc...
Then theres that whole Pandora thing so...
I don't know, maybe.

I think the Wikipedia page raised the idea first.
