Can we be innovative with the usage of the word fire? For instance; passion, desire, lust and love? Fire is a very powerful element, and I like the idea of this for February.

the interpritation of the word is up to you. So yes you may be as innovative as you choose with the theam. So long as your poem speeks of the dynamic ellement of fire. The reason I chose fire is because of Imbolc :D Brides day lady of fire. Candlemass. All linked to fire in their own way and all taking place in Febuary :D

Right on then, Let's get started!

I thought I'd leave one here for you.

Where does the dew drop
from your dayleaves?
Perhaps on the sand below.
to be dried away
in the scorching heat of the day

the fire of the midday sun
to burn away the dross
in a pool of gold

like a chance enveloped by a miracle
your brief puddle may nurture a gift
moisten a seed
and entreat you
to a night of dreams.

yeah the first of the month, thank you :D Nice job there.

Casting with Fire

Flames surround.
Flames they bind me to my path.
The element that lives within my soul.

Flames so brightly.
Flames ignite me to the core.
I call upon the fires of old.

Get behind me.

Fires burning in my eyes.
Fires burning at my side.
Fires burning deep within.
I call upon the fires of the earth, deep within.

Get behind me.

I call upon the fires of old.

Get behind me.

A flame that flickers lightly in the wind.
I cast out the fires from within.

Flames burning high. Reflections in my eyes.
The element that lives within my soul.

Get behind me.

Ok here is what I came up with since I made the above post
And hey Bethra Fire is my element sign. And today me and my friend were talking about rebirth today so I think this is cool how this has turned out.

The Phoenix Within
(c) 2006 M. GIbbs

Deep within me
this flame passionately
it grows
and it whispers to me that
my life as I know it
it is time to let it go

I look at the mirror across the room
and I see how much the fire has
already consumed me

I see it in my hands as crawls up my arms
trying to endure the heat
I caress my face
and the flames continue to take shape
and as my hands run through my hair
the flames gives it a crimson glow

As I stand up from my desk
and stretch I feel that is almost there
the flame continues to grow

I see it in my eyes
burning lively
and the flames screaming
let it go

Like a bird whose about to take flight
and attack her prey

I spread my newfound wings
and scream
as the rest of my body
is engulfed in flames

The time has come
for those who have hurt me
to be warned
my Phoenix has risen
from the ashes

And in time
those of you who have
crossed my path will learn
that when you fight
with a Phoenix
you will be burned.

I have a great poem for this month's theme...the only problem is the structure of the poem is such that it won't show up here correctly...the lines are arranged in a matter to add to the poem. Is it possible to upload my poem as a text file attachment instead? I know it sounds strange but I was just wondering.

February 12th, 2006, 09:43 AM
Zhr as long as you put it in Word Doc. Or txt. I do not think it should be a problem.

The flashes from a thousand guns
From a thousand armies with thousand times
Pierce with the light of a thousand suns
A thousand deaths, from a thousand crimes

The heat of the fallen voices burns my hands
Their waning life fueling the flames of the sun
And though they died in other lands
Their music mixes one with one

Flames of hell, you come not from the caves
The caverns of old that preachers preach
Laid out with care for filthy knaves
With tar and demon and bat and leech

But come you from the guns that we make
And the heat of the lives that we take
Fighting for a cause that is as much alive
As the mounds of bodies that they make

It Lights Another

It dances
Majestic flame within
A spark from the Great Fire
Burning like the Eyes of the Sun
It is mysterious
It sees itself in darkness
For it is the only true Light
The great love of Spirit
It blinds those who cannot see
And fires those who call its name
Sometimes it seems like death
But is only a new birth
And so it heals
Rise from this burnt corpse
Like a Phoenix soul

The Flameholders Vow

We are all flameholders,
and in this graven chamber
the coal ashes stir like promises;
That will one day rise again.

The soot it smells like eternity,
Tao of what is long since combust.
And in it's silence we yearn for clarity
Of the rising flame and it's Damning Touch.

In this chamber the ash is shining
Though cold it lays, and alone I bear
here in my chamber of soot, these diamonds shining
of the purest fires this soul can fair.

~*The Guardian Of Fire*~

A desire
Of Gaia -
A human vessel
Of the element of Fire
To guard it
Long ago was born
Between Darkness and the good of Light
He was torn
The little brother of his sister Night
Fair hear, blue eyes
He seems to be in disguise
As impish as Light herself
Recognised by wearing a red cloak
And the dancing Flames, they soak
They soak his soul

As ever fiery as an active volcano
He does not look back, he chooses to go
As proud as a king
As loud as he can sing
He makes himself known
He burns, he takes
But never breaks
He learns
But never forsakes
Bliss in fire he does find
But beware, do not be blind
Guardian of Fire
Resist temptation, resist desire
For your task is to achieve the goal
Of balance for every eternal soul
Together, with the rest of the guardians
Not yet alone
For fight we must not on our own
But united against the Enemy
The anti-guardians, a misery..
Strong and caring is he
With great willpower, he never does flee

Rings of Fire - his signature attack
That brings forth the feeling of warmth
Out of Fire itself
A beautiful picture it is
To see this
A sort of art, indeed
Powerful and mighty
Your dreams can be misty
But a hero never forgets
To keep his
In Flaming Eternity
