Assignment 4.2

Using things around the house create an altar to help balance this chakra. Remember the correspondences. Use green and pink pieces, and crystals if you have them handy, otherwise pieces of clothing, towels, scarves, pictures, candles all have a place on the alter. Whatever reminds you of the areas that we are working on in this lesson. This might not take the form of a typical ritual setup, and that is OK. We are doing a mini-ritual for the balancing of a chakra, so it will be slightly different. You may want to use just a little TV tray, night stand or patio table for this. We will be using this set up for a while, and you may not want to set it up each time. This will also allow you to stop on the way by and just do a quick visualization exercise.

Things to consider when deciding what to use; what areas of your life would an imbalance in this chakra affect. Get things for the altar that mean something to you, and relate to the areas that are affected.

Now that you have put together the altar, it is time to do a quick 5 minute ritual to ask for balance of the chakra. One of the things I enjoy is using my visualization of the chakra in motion. I use my hand to tell me how it is moving, as my hand seems to move in conjunction with my chakra. You can use any method you wish. Visualize the chakra motion. Visualize pleasure and joy stemming from this area. Feel that green and pink energy and pleasure rise up the sushumna to the crown. Feel the shiver of pleasure and energy as it passes through the crown and flows over your body in an aura of the color of the chakra.

Here is a chart that show the energy running up the sushumna. The other two columns that run allong beside the sushumna are the Ida and Pingala. The sushumna is the energy flow that relates to and runs along with the spinal cord. You can feel this energy flow when you meditate on the chakras. The sushumna is the path that kundalini takes as it rises. We will be discussing all of these energy flows in a later lesson.

Here are some affirmations that I use. I usually do them at the end of a meditation period as I am in the dep relaxation pose. I use my hands to do a Chakra-Energy Massage and as I do this I say the affirmations, It leaves me with a very good feeling in my body and mind.

- My heart is open to giving and receiving love.
- I lovingly accept myself --- as I am.
- I give and receive with an open heart and bind myself to all living beings.
