I LOVED it!!!!
I didn't know there was an established Chocolate Ritual. All these years I've been worshipping at the Great Choco-Altar in my own clumsy, milk chocolate-smeared (but satisfied) way.
Are there any rituals for cheese? Perhaps something that includes a nice 4-year-old Wisconsin cheddar....

Just substitute cheese for chocolate, re-word a little, & VOILA!... cheese fondue... or cheese on a stick... or cheese on a pretzel... or extra-extra sharp cheddar...

Sorry, I gotta disagree with ya on one thing, though... I've had cheese from all over the world, & the best comes from Watonga, Oklahoma.

What kind of cheese comes from Watonga? Oklahoma?
Maybe I can find it at my favorite cheese shop. I'm open to new tastes and I'll try almost anything edible.

We did the entire Chocolate Ritual in our Women's Circle last year, complete with an altar - someone actually had Hershey's Kiss candles. Our cakes and wine were Yoo-hoo and kisses.

As for where the best cheese comes from - well, I have to disagree. I live in Oklahoma and have had Watonga cheese - but I've also lived in upstate New York and IMO the best cheese comes from anywhere upstate - and it's so much easier to get than it is here. You can find good cheese in any grocery store there and you don't have to look for stores that carry it if you don't live in the immediate area.

But I go to the cheese shop because of the variety....
I'm lucky to find cheddar older than 12 months in a grocery store.
At my favorite cheese shop, I can always find 4 year-old cheddar (& sometimes older...mmmmm...) & I can always get Stilton, too.
Right next door is a candy store where I can get chocolate in bulk for baking, & there's an outlet store for a local sausage factory, a great spice shop, & a fabulous German restaurant in the same block. Food, then more food, & then candy....my idea of heaven!
:mmm: :mmm: :mmm:

That does sound like heaven - but if I had access to such a paradise I would be so very broke and so very fat.........

By the way, Foxglove, what's marmite?

I just dug out my old copy of the Chocolate Ritual (it was in a '98 pangaia magazine) and was trying to figure out cheese substitutes. I don't really like chocolate, but I LOVE cheese! A cheese ritual sounds absolutely sinful! I love it!

Hmmmm......what could we substitute for the "N-e-s-t-l-e-s" part?

Got cheese?

And I'm putting my dentist's kids through Harvard.....

A few years ago I was in San Francisco ( a great place BTW), & all over town were billboards (also newspaper ads) urging people to buy delicious California cheese.
Hmmmm...I love trying local food when I travel...so I schlepped to a grocery store, then another, then a deli, then a gourmet shop. No California cheese! The gourmet shop clerk suggested that I'd like something from Wisconsin or New York better...they were much more popular! :rotfl:

Amazing, isn't it? And if you ever visit Oklahoma - and want Native American items - mostly what you will find is "made in Japan" in commercial stores. The authentic stuff is sold through individuals or at fairs, etc.

It's a bogus Full Moon ritual where the goddess of chocolate is honored. It is absolutely hysterical. If I remember correctly, some of it was "and once a month ye shall gather in the mall and better it be when your checkbooks are full." We did it in our Women's Circle and I don't know where we found it. I'm sure someone in this thread can tell you, though.

Oh, you made my day telling me I made your day! :heartthro

You should try actually doing it! We did the whole thing in our Women's Circle and had an incredible amount of fun! We even had candles for the altar in the shape of Hershey's kisses! We actually called the quarters and cast a circle. :rotfl:

Glad you enjoyed it - and I guess the link worked!
