I've just joined this fellowship of like-minded folk so I'm a 'newbie'. I have also joined a wonderful site based in the New Forest in England http://magickalforest.com/
I presented myself there with this intro and it seems a good idea to reproduce this here:
Hello to all on the board. My name is Nigel and I live near the English border in South Wales. I have had to fulfil many roles in my life: husband, father, friend and, professionally, Nurse, Chemist, Social Care worker to name but a few.
Like many others of my generation my first contact with organised religion and its principles came when I attended Sunday School at the non-conformist chapel that had been the traditional place of worship for my family. However, apart from the morning Christian assembly at school, after the age of seven the spiritual aspect of my life experience was not actively conditioned or explored.
Then when I reached my later teenage years I became aware of a growing need to discover my identity which seemed to go beyond that usually experienced by my peers caught up in angst and the extreme exploration of all things sensual. I felt a deep sense of belonging to Earth which I conceptualized as a living existence. This loose spiritual awareness took on some form on a visit to Glastonbury in my early twenties where I bought a wonderful book on Egyptian spiritual symbolism written by Lucy Lamy. I was drawn to the Goddess Isis and served her by helping to run a Sister Centre of the FOI at Usk.
I now revere and recognize the many aspects and names of the Goddess and have been helped by her on many occasions to trust in love and it's healing principles. I believe in the personal nature of her divinity where we can engage with her spirit directly and not as some abstract concept.
Well I enjoy reading and writing poetry, walking miles in beautiful places, landscape photography, ethereal music. Guess I enjoy reaching out to find others who may share in some of what I believe and I am always keen to grow and develop new ideas.
