I don't know... I've always only dreamed in colour so I was actually very surprised when I was first told that people would dream in black and white. :bigredblu

From what I've heard now, though, it seems to pretty common to dream in black and white. I think it's just an individual thing for different people. :)

I dream in both, and I'm not sure if I have a predilection for one over the other as I usually forget.

Almost always in color... sometimes brilliant, vivid colors.

My college professor told us during one lecture that it is normal for people dream in color and "fill in the details" after waking up. For instance, we're all used to green grass and blue skies, so we automatically fill in that information when we remember the dream. He claimed that some objects may even be in color, but the majority is B&W.

That made me really think about my dreams when recalling them each morning. As far as I know, I've always dreamed in color. I can't recall having a B&W dream, period. Reasons like this made my high school psychology teacher doubt me during the dreaming section of the class. He was suspicious of my "abnormal" dream recall abilities among other things. Yay for society dictating what is "acceptable."

ive heard people metion that before, and ive always thought it to be
very weird...
what would you think is the reasoning behind dreaming only in black &
white?
IMO a person that dreams only in black&white knows somewhere within
there concious there dreaming, they just haven't recognized that yet.
hince the reasoning of there not being any color, there trying to tell
themselves that there dreaming.

I dream in color. I used to dream in animation a lot, but haven't done that in a long time. I don't recall ever having a B&W dream. I don't think I'm artistic enough. It seems like an artistic thing, to me. jmo. _inabox_

Yes, I always dream in color. I thought it was really weird that some people don't when I found out.. but I guess if I had always had black and white dreams I wouldn't find anything weird about it. If you've been dreaming since before you can remember, I can't find any special significance-it would just be of some difference to you if it switched from one or the other.

Phoenix Element, it sounds to me like your college professor believed what was in the books because he happened to dream the same way. People dream in such different ways that I doubt a set of guidelines could apply.. Maybe he just got suspicious because he hadn't thought of the fact that not everyone is like him, eh? All too often..8O
