My mother says that I have what Filipinos call "hot-eyes." It's basically the ability to see dead people, or in my case a mixture of dead, and living when they're not actually there.

Two years ago, I was in the bathroom and the bathroom door was open. After a moment I turned my head for no reason and completely at random, as if my head was acting by itself.

Then, I saw my grandmother in a red-and-purple housedress walking into my mom's room. She stopped when she saw me looking at her, and she looked at me and asked, "Why?" in that sort of tone you'd use when talking to a child who's... well, staring at you for no reason. Then she walked into the room, and again my head turned away of its own will.

When I looked in Mom's room immediately after, there was nobody inside. THen I looked around the apartment for Mom, and I saw her in the kitchen wearing completely different clothes. At the time, I'd thought she was Mom. Mom says that she looks like my grandma when she (grandmother) was younger. It took us until recently last year to figure things out, because... well, it's hard to explain.

Anyway, I asked her if she'd gone into her room a few minutes ago. She said she hadn't, and that perhaps we'd both been thinking about each other at the same moment. I left it alone as an older Filipino superstition and didn't think about the matter again.

Then, a few months later when I was doing the laundry and taking a load upstairs (we lived in an upstairs apartment) I looked down from the balcony for no reason and stopped for a moment to see my younger cousin walking in the driveway. (My younger cousin is NOT dead. He is alive, although he did almost drown a few months AFTER I had this experience.) So then I took the basket in, put it down next to the couch, and told Mom that my cousin was here to visit. She was confused again, and said that if HE was here, my aunt and uncle would have been upstairs already.

In the evening she called my aunt and uncle up and asked if they'd gone there. She also asked if my cousin was wearing the shirt I'd seen him wearing (a Spiderman t-shirt he'd gotten on his birthday), and they said no to that also. More confusion, and more letting the matter alone on my part.

Then, while my sister and I were walking home from Starbucks, someone's tire blew out and startled pretty much everyone who heard it. However, as we reached the corner I looked to my right, which was the completely opposite direction of the street on which someone's tire had blown out. And I saw my classmate (who is alive) on the sidewalk, who looked like he was staring at the car with the blown-out tire. I looked away again, saw he was gone, and looked on both sides of the street to see if he was walking away.

No one was there but me.

I caught up with my sister and told her, "I saw [classmate]. Did you?" And it turned out that she hadn't. As far as I know, nobody saw him except me. That was when I thought something supernatural was up. The next time this sort of thing happened, I thought, I'd try to force myself to call to them, because someone who's physically there would surely answer me.

Then, my next and last experience so far happened when I was walking to Mom's car from the laundry-mat to get the next load. I stopped and looked behind me to see what looked like a homeless man who was positively GLARING at me from the corner. I literally felt some sort of ill will directed at me before I turned my head, walked to the car, and then looked back again. No one was there.

When I brought this up last year, everything was straightened out and my mom said that I have "hot-eyes." She's actually rather proud to tell my relatives about this now, because apparently I got it from my grandmother. She was the only other person who could see things like this.

SO. Does anyone else know something about 'hot-eyes,' and if it skips generations or anything? More importantly, can I control it? Mom said that my grandma saw things all the time, because the ancestral house is very much haunted and she must have had some sort of control to not see spirits every other day.
