I've been noticing something unusual about the way that I see things, and wanted to know if other people feel the same, and whether it's really signifigant or not.

I see a lot of words in colors, as well as people, and numbers. For example, when I think of the number 1, I think of yellow. If I think of 2, I associate it with red. When I get into double digets, the colors mix, which makes it more interesting with larger numbers. For example, 56 = 5 which is red, and 6 which is orange, so I see red-orange for the number.

Also, I associate colors with people that I know. I see myself as purple most of the time, and one of my roommates are teal or maybe light blue.

Sometimes I think of individual words the same way as this, but it's more difficult for me. I should also note that I don't actually literally see the color, but I guess I sense the color in the same way that I see the word/person/number. Strange, huh? Or not?

Any thoughts on this?

not so strange, its just another way of associating.
for me i have a tendency of associating colors
with emotions, and emotions inveriably associate themselves
with gemetrical shapes.
its not something ive ever really tried to do,it's just kind of evolved
throughout my practice.
learn from it,let it evolve as it may.
it might give you so valuable hints into what you should persue within
your practices.

Your abilities demonstrates an evolutionary development which may well have come from a series of previous lifetimes. Additionally, you probably did your homework in preparation for this incarnation. In Astrology, the planets Mercury, Uranus and Neptune are often associated with having a technicolor Third Eye Chakra.

If you were born after about 1985, you are likely an Indigo Child. Indigo's are often endowed with enhanced psychic / intuitive abilities.

Wow, this is interesting information. Thank you. I was born in '82, however, and I tend to see myself as more maroon/purple than indigo, for what it's worth.

I'll have to do some research on the Third Eye Chakra, though. :)

The light Indigo color corresponds to the Crown Chakra at the top of the head. A darker Indigo (purple / maroon as you call it) color directly corresponds to the Third Eye Chakra. I think it is safe to assume that you are very strong in the Brow / Third Eye part of yourself.

Actually, there is a word/term to describe this phenomenon. It's called synaesthesia.

Cheers,

Hmm. This is similar to my impressions of things, too. Certain things make me think of certain 'temperatures' and colors in my mind.

I used to color-code song lyrics on my computer when I was twelve. :hahugh:

And the ballet "Giselle" makes me think of a sort of washed-out blue, wheras Swan Lake makes me think of greenish-blue. Giselle gives me a sort of cold feeling near my arms, too.

I also associate things with emotions, especially songs. It generally depends on how the rhythm makes me feel, even if the lyrics are completely unrelated to that emotion.

I do this too. Its like almost everything has a color that goes with it and when it is visualized in your mind, you see it in that color. You don't actually see the color when you look at the object with your eyes, but you see it in your mind. My hubby is the same way.

I think a lot of people have synethestia, to a certain degree. For myself, certain words and numbers are certain colours, but not all of them, and some music strongly evokes colour.
