Possible Goddess possession'?

Shadowsong asked me to post this up for everyone to read. This is what happend to her last night. She also asked for opinons.

OK so I felt really moved to do a ritual to Goddess last night. I'd never done an invocation before but that's what I wrote. So when the folks were gone I stripped down and danced skyclad to bellydancing music in the dark. I said my bit--the part of my prayer to Her--didn't have it memorized--and then I danced between my bit and Hers to me. But when I danced... She came and it felt like She took over my body. It wasn't me dancing. It was like, I saw through my eyes but it wasn't my body. The dancing wasn't my own. It became fast, frenzied, more crap than I could ever do. And when the bit came for Her words to me, they weren't mine. I wasn't the one speaking. I don't know if this is making any sense... but I think Goddess kind of possessed me (not in a bad way) for the first time last night. And as for the bellydancing, when She did it? No wonder I'm sore this morning for no other reason

Wow!!! That's awesome. From what she says, I'd say the got to experience the power of the Goddess. I've experienced the powers of the Goddess before. It's amazing!

I wouldnt say possesion, IMO. She didnt take over and toss you in the background, leaving you with no memory of it all but, what I would call it, IMO...

Sharing!! Wonderful, beautiful, sharing!!!! A touch of her you have experienced that will probably open new doors and new understandings!!

And if you felt or learned anything form this experience or in any future experience that is new and not commonly believed...work with her (your goddess) on it and not people. I found that learning is unique and differant for individuals.

I dont have enough experience to comment,,,but I did an invocation and prayed for a while and went to sleep,and Anubus Showed up in my dreams,it sorta bothered me a bit,not really knowing much about Anubus,He was large,very large,,,and I wasnt comfortable with any male Gods to be honest.

Thats exactly what channeling a Goddess is like! Great work. Dancing is a great way to tap the Goddesses primal energy!

Hmm I consider the words to be synonyms..so if a Goddess is directly filling you and working through you and your ego self (as in your everyday person you present to the world) is pushed aside then the answer is yes.

I think that posession is involuntary and you can't snap out of it even if you really wanted to. Channeling the deity is something that people around here do voluntarily. When it has happened to me I have felt that if I wanted to I could regain control of my body. In any case, possession seems to have a negative connotation while channeling is neutral. The first that I read of channeling was in the Seth books. Jane Roberts wrote a series of books mostly in the 1970s in which she channelled an entity called Seth.

That is so awesome!! I've never actually had an experience like that where we were shareing one body.

I did thoguh have an experience durring meditation, I saw her. She bathed in a beautiful white-silver light and she spoke to me saying "Everything was going to be alright." I was going though something at the time.

I hope that one day I will have and experience as awesome as Shadowsong's

Well, I'd say she got exactly what she asked for. She wrote an invocation and a Goddess was invoked. I think more people need to look up the definitions of and differences between invocation and evocation.
