First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I was at a loss for places to put it.

Second: What is everyone's take on the Necronomicon? Is it really as powerful and dangerous as the author says? Is it simply mumbo jumbo? What are your thoughts/feelings/opinions?

Isn't that just a book that HP Lovecraft made up?

Yes, that would be the one. Pure fiction.

Its supposably made up. But if someone believes it, they can make it so.
Ever write your own spell? Well that was made up and it worked.
Doesnt matter if its made up..if you feel you can make it happen, you can!

Isnt everything written done by a human?
When it comes to metaphysics nothing can be proved as factual, other than to yourself, through experiencing it.

A spell doesnt work for someone and that person says magick is all fake.

But to another it all works quite well and is real.

Same with this. Some say it works for them, to me its no differant than writting your own magick!

Yes, some of HP Lovecraft's best fantasy/horror.

BTW, many years ago, there was this guy out on Cape Cod, who got busted for selling the "original" plates of the Necronomicon to several different people. Naturally, they were all fake copies...

Although much of Lovecraft's stories were written in Rhode Island, several of them were written around the Merimack Valley area & based upon local legends. The Curious Case of Charles Dexter Ward, was based upon tales surrounding the Dexter Mansion in Newburyport, Ma, (where I used to live). The nutcase who built that house had faked his own death, and when his wife didn't cry at his funeral, he came out & beat her with a whip...

We've had discussions about this fictional grimoire in

this thread (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=86291) and this thread (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=87572) and this thread (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=1583) and this thread (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=32658) and this thread (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=3059)

as well as in other threads on other topics too. You'll find that since the Necronomicon is a book that most of the threads about it are in the Books section of MysticWicks (http://www.mysticwicks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20). You'll also find that the MysticWicks Search page (http://www.mysticwicks.com/search.php) is a handy way to track down where people have already discussed specific topics. But don't hesitate to start new threads if you can't find what you're looking for in what's already on the site!
