View Full Version : Pouch for my Tarot cards

Today I bought a pouch to keep my tarot cards in. I have had my cards for about 5 years and have kept them in the box they came in. I saw a really nice velvet pouch today so bought it.

The question I have is - can I put more than one deck in the pouch? This may be a silly question and please do tell me if I'm being really stupid. The cards have always worked well for me, but I have started to collect decks and just wondered if it would effect them by putting them in with another deck.

Hi Sunshine! :sunny:

I would suggest that you wrap each deck with cloth made of natural fibers...silk (most suggested), cotton, etc. this way you'll be protecting each deck from the other's energies. If it's convenient for you, put them in the same bag. I have made my ownsilk lined bags that hold exactly one deck and the layout cloth that matches the pattern on the bag. :D So, I have 3 pouches and 2 small wooden tarot boxes that I keep my cards in. At one time I was putting 2 wrapped decks in the small cedar keepsake boxes, and they were just fine! Go with what feels right to you!

Hi Sunshine! Really great to have you here!

Id say the same as Dadga ~ go with whatever you feel is right for you and your cards, then this will be the correct way for you.
I personally believe that as the cards take up your energy and develop there own energy/personality that they should be kept seperate ~ so I have two decks ~ one kept in a willow box and the other in a silk bag that I made myself (Thanks to Dagda!). The one I keep in the bag is often the one I carry around with me and take out to read for my freinds, but when I need the other deck I swap them around. I dont think it matters at all ~ just go with what you feel is best for your cards!
:)

Dagda babes, I never thanked you for the suggesting to me about making my own silk bag ~ thank you so much, it has been a really resoucefully bag and I love it! Its now one of my prized poccessions and I am so happy that I actually sat down and made the effort to sew (Im normally terrible but this bag is gorgeous!) Its made out of purple silk with gold trimming at the top and bottom, little sequin stars all over and fastens with a button. :D

Thank you for your help. I shall now go out and buy some silk to wrap them in. I'm glad I didn't rush in and put them in the bag together.

Thanks again.

Great! If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask! We are all here to learn!

Silver Venus: You are more than welcome! The feeling of crafting the bag for yourself is very exciting isn't it?!! I just love all my bags and laycloths I've made!! I was leary about my sewing abilities too....but everything turned out beautifully!
