View Full Version : Are there any visualization exercises anywhere?

I've had very good visualization skills since I was about eight or nine; I had no clue why I was able to do it at the time, but before I went to sleep I'd close my eyes and picture my bedroom exactly as it was, and then mentally 'shift' the room's position while I'd stay in the same spot (eg turning the entire room to the right or left, or just moving the window to another wall).
I'd basically have fun shifting different parts of the room around and seeing what it might look like, and I did this quite consistently. Occasionally, I started thinking I had telekinesis. (Sometimes I'd even start staring at something and try to make it move 8O)
Are there any known visualization exercises on the net or something? I can still do the things I mentioned (still no telekinesis yet :D), but now I'm starting to think about The Matrix whenever I 'shift' the room around.

If you're proficient at visualization you might want to advance to astral projection and pathworking. I use my runes stones, my tarot and "Magic the Gathering" cards. Which actually the surreal imagery aids nicely to pathworking.
If you want to search for visualization excerises use google

There are tons of visualization exercises. Don't think that you have to learn them from someone else either.. I often will practice visualization if i'm on a train, or in the elevator. Simply visualize yourself at home, at work, wherever, and see yourself walking around noticing all the little things in the place. Get a piece of fruit from the refridgerator.. notice how it looks, it feels. Wash it off under the cold water, how does it feel? Take a bite, and notice how it tastes, maybe the juices run down your chin. See where I am headed? Also, where is it that you actually plan to go from here? Having a good idea of where you want to go from here is always good.

Visualization excercises are not hard to come by on the net. The key to going beyond where you are now might involve bringing other senses into play - smell, touch, taste, etc. This would strengthen the overall 'reality' of the experience to your brain.
You might also consider learning to attain a deeper meditative (Alpha) state of mind while doing your excercises.

Have you tried scrying? I just began hearing/learning about it. I find it fascinating and will definitely test the waters with it someday, perhaps when I learn more about it. Sounds like you would be good at it.

when i was a kid, and i've be watching tv, I'd visualize stories from the point of view of the characters in the tv. Lke, if a girl was walking through a forrest, I would visualize being that person. then, instead of seeing the scope that the camera allowed, includin the back of the person who was walking... I'd turn around look at the camera man and the set around me... run around a bit, look at things and feel things in my surroundings.
It was really cool. I could use more practice though. So yay for visualization exercises!

There is a woman named Bellaruth Naparstak that writes books with interesting visualizations in them. I find them at my local library.

Wow, you're lucky to be so good at visualization. Have you tried using it for shamanic journeying, healing, or scrying and astral projection as mentioned by others?
If I were that good at visualization I'd be thinking about healing loved ones, meeting spirit guides, and learning information such as that found in the Akashic records and past lives. I'd also want to try to meet others on the astral.
By the way, if you scroll down the page now you will see some similar threads. In particular the last one is useful.

Try googling or maybe see if there are any advanced visualisation books about, one of the articles i read at one point said that for increasing visualisation skill you can go in stages:
1. Have an apple sitting on a table, close your eyes trying to keep visualisation that apple
2. Once u can visualise the apple there try and move it around and change its texture, colour etc
3. Try not only visualising the apple but the whole room and being able to walk around the apple
4. Try to visualise the apple with your eyes wide open (without the apple sitting on the table of course :P lol)
Maybe try visualising beyond your room or how the room would look mixed around with your eyes open and really trying to "see" it??
I dunno good luck though let us know how it goes! :)

*drags up an older thread*
Okay, so I've got a question on visualization - how similar to "imagination" is visualization. I'm a fiction writer. I imagine things all the time, creating entire worlds in my head, characters, etc. I see them crystal clear. I can imagine an apple on the desk, no problem. Changing colors, moving it around? Yeah. And with my eyes wide open - in fact, I do all of this with my eyes open. But... is that truly 'visualization' in the sense that it could help me with spellwork? Or is there more to it than that?
