Yes I do, but I try to stay realistic. The chances are, many of us will not meet physically. This is a community which covers most of the world and I have great friends here from America, Austrailia, all over Europe and several other parts of the world. However, none of us are very rich and international travel is not cheap. If I kept in my mind the desire to meet all the people here I have come to love, I would be permanently disappointed.
So I decide to enjoy the friendships I make here for what they are and not expect more. If I do meet up with some of the people here by chance one day, it will be a great bonus, but it is not worth setting my heart on.
If you compare physical hugs with virtual ones, virtual ones are going to be second best;-so why compare them? Accept them for what they are and they become more real.
Moreover, many of us here are empaths or have psychic abilities which mean the hugs and words we send and share have an extra dimension to them which you probably wouldn't find in other on-line communities. Personally I have been moved to tears by some of the energy requests I have read here and physically and emotionally drained because of trying to send too much energy. On the other hand I have felt the tingle of new energy when I have been given it, and find myself smiling from ear to ear at some of the kind things that have been said to me. Some physical relationships are not even as dynamic as that!
My advice Lilith is to take this community for what it is, and soak in the love and positive energy that so many people have for you without allowing doubts and frustrations to sap away the beauty of what is here for you.:hugz:

I would love to meet my online friends and family and some of them I may and one I have but even if I never meet anyone from here I know that the friendships, the caring, the hugs, the love and energy that pours out of the people from here is far stronger and far more honest than alot of what you can find in "real" life. So yes I share your desire to meet people face to face (assuming I can kill my shyness problem) but for now I look at the bright side - I have access to alot more people, from a lot more places who have interests similar to me and who brighten my day with every hug, hi and pm.

Yeah, I went for about five years searching for someone to connect with in person, to have conversations where we could see each other's expressions and body language, someone to do ritual with, to have conversations and even arguments. It was a long and lonely time, but I was so hugely happy to find an online Wiccan community to be part of and that community led to this one, and this is the place I get to hang out nearly every day and talk to people and learn things and sometimes teach things.

I do have a Circle I've been part of for three years now, but we've had our ups and downs, times when we weren't able to get together for a few months. If not for my online buddies I'd probably have gotten depressed again.

I'm fortunate that I live close enough to our Site God that I got to attend a coiuple of psychic faires and meet him, although I still haven't met the Site Goddess. But I got to meet several MW members that live in that area and it was wonderful to meet them and have faces to go with the screen names and to get hugs from them all. I'd love to go down there for another psychic faire but don't know if I can afford it. Something to dream about though.

I don't think wishing for things is wrong but I think dwelling on the desire for things that are out of reach will lead to unhappiness. Life is too short to be unhappy for very long. I am a hermit and prefer this lifestyle, but everyone that I know has told me that they couldn't live like I do, it would drive them crazy to live this far away from everyone. So I would say that the way you feel is alot like how everyone feels, so you are far from being alone feeling the way you do, there is nothing wrong with wanting closeness and human contact! It is our nature to feel that way, watch an infant when it is picked up and held lovingly and softly talked to, and all children are the same way, and it stays with us as we grow up, even though we are often taught that adults shouldn't act that way, what a bunch of ****, it is in ourselves to want this closeness, natural as the day we were born!!!!!!!!!! I would like to suggest that you use this lonely energy to do creative work of some kind, release the lonely energy into something to share with the world! Maybe even find volunteer work somewhere so that you will feel useful, places always need volunteers and that kind of work can be quite rewarding and helpful to you.
