"Convens usually sort things out with a vote. This is no coven. And I am God here." Mol

Funny that's how it was advertised in the email sent to me to join up.

For quite a while now I have been told what I post is SPAM!

To tell you th honest truth, this is begining to irritate me.

I want to know what you the mmembers think of my posts.

I believe that everyone has the right to a vote and with this poll you are welcome to vote.

The CD rom which I have posted information from, the author of the CD stated that all information on the CD was free information so I didn't violate copyright.

Thank You Very Much and ejoy the Poll.

Bright Blessings Everyone.

Lillith, you spam. A lot. Too much. You remind me uncannily of a child waving her arms for attention, doing anything within her power to get it. You've really annoyed me with many many of your posts, you've probably irreperably damaged my father's computer with one of your several virus hoaxes, and you are choking up the bandwidth by shoving images at the end of at least HALF of your posts. I am rather impatient with people who have things explained to them about twenty times and who continue to do them again and again.

So yes, it is spam. Don't do it again. Although I have no doubt that you will.

Several people feel you are spamming. Mol has asked you several times not to paste things from your email etc. here. He and others have explained what spamming is to you. Whether you think its spam or not several people do, and they find it irritating. What mol told you is NOT just from his standpoint, it is from the standpoint of the entire staff and several members here. He is really acting in the interest of MW here as a whole.

We ask that everyone be patient as mol and the rest of the staff deal with the reports and legal standpoints here.

I'll say that again - the staff are handling this issue at this time. We are all working for the best interests of MW. Please be patient and have respect for that. We do *not* want you to leave MW, Lilith Rain.

We appreciate your posts - your opinions, your comments, your help. We really like having you here. We like hearing what *you* have to say, not what you are posting from another source. I hope you can continue to stay here and be a valuable member. I hope you can continue to show us your ideas and thoughts, and learn with us. I really enjoy talking to you and seeing your thoughts. I really think you do help. I hope you want to stay.

This matter is being handled by the admins with the help of the mods here. We *are* working on it, so again, please be patient.

Or does what one person says goes?

Maybe you should read my post again?

Mol is not speaking only for his opinion, but for that of the entire staff and many members. He is looking out for all the needs of all the people here at MW. This matter is being handled by staff, so please be patient and respectful of that, ok? :)

Maybe I should clarify a bit here Lillith. I have seen several posts of your original writting that were wonderful. I've also seen quite a few posts that were from your e-mail. I personally would love to see you post more of your original work, and stop putting your e-mail messages up here.

Just my two cents.

In THIS forum, that would be a YES

I don't speak up much, but in defense of Mol, I believe he has every right to a certain amount of autonomy over his own site. Though, graciously, he defers often to his moderators, even is some of them do not pop in as often as they should...
( :ghost: <---me ).

I wonder when everyone is going to realize that this forum was created to form a sense of family in the pagan community? Questions, answers, magick and friendship should rule here, not SPAM...

Yes, Lilith...you DO spam. It doesn't mean that we wouldn't value your replies to threads in here. However, The stuff you cut/copy/paste from email...you've got to realize..none of this is anything most of us haven't seen over and over and over again in our email box. Spam. Some of it is hoaxes....which have been circulating over the net for a while (the virus ones, for instance). Some of it, is annoying chain letters. Nobody LIKES those things.

As for your copy/pasting stuff from CD Roms, even if it is free info, and if you haven't broken any legalities, how about ethics? You know that you haven't written that material....so why cut/copy/paste it. We want to know the real you. We want to hear YOUR thoughts, and ideas. Not someone ELSES.

And Mol DOES have the right to govern what happens on his site. Especially since many members, and moderators have complained about your posts. He's not only allowed to respond, and speak to you about it, in some ways..he's OBLIGATED.

His role, as the creator of this message board, is to try to make this place an enjoyable place for people to visit. If he's getting complaints from people saying that it isn't enjoyable, or that they don't like something going on...he's GOING to act on it.

That is life. And we stand beside him 100% in this.

Hmm. Im happy to see my private message posted on the board. Ugh...oh well. There is a democracy here for many things, but this is not one of them. My patience has ended.

We aspire to Democracy as an ideal here... but at it's heart, remember that this board can never be anything but a MOL-AGARCHY!!!!!!!!!!

Also you post lots of spam please stop, it sucks.

Without seeing the CD ROM in quesiton, I couldn't say whetehr ot nor that info was in the public domain. HOwever, I did see several of your posts that end with "written by AMber K, used with permission", which is obviously taken directly from a source which probably*did* have her permission--but you don't. And therefore, you don't have the right to post it, at all.

Drisel
January 7th, 2002, 11:26 AM
Most of your posts I have seen since I joined have been spam. There have been a few that were informative but if I wanted to recieve all the chain letters and "words of wisdom" I would have subscribed to it. I for one find it very annoying to have to wade through multiple pages of crap that you lavish on the board to get to the real posts! Please, out of respect for the rest of the community, stop and think before you post.

original work is just so much more interesting to read. most people get enough spam in there inboxs already. we've seen most of it all before. it gets boring after a while. original posts are so much cooler in my oppion. i love seeing what everyone has to say. thats why i come here so much. i could care less what everyone gets in their email.

Ok guys - the issue has been handled.

The new policy is posted.

Please adhere to it and direct questions appropriately as necessary.

Usually,
when a thread is started, the idea is to start a discussion,
whether it be an argument or asking for support or jsut to be silly

alot of your posts , Lilith, do tend to be spammy in the sense you post a link to a site, or just paste in info...

and then there is no discussion about it...

Im not saying it is only you.... there are a few others who do it too.. I think that was why Mol had to put his foot down...

some people come here to Play teacher....

I use the term "drive by" to describe a spam post casue that is what it is,

But you are a vauled member here Lilith!
there are alot of good topics for discussion here, and they do get really heated at times :)

i havent been on mw long enough to make a proper decision but i have to say that spam is a rambunctious (it hasnt been used for a while) thingy and should be promoted to the status of God, or at least Semi/Demi God! :cutie:

I don't know, i blocked you a long time ago for posting spam. Once you go spam, you never stop going spam.

Laiste
January 7th, 2002, 06:27 PM
Yes you do spam. Like so many others have posted we would like to hear what *you* have to say...share with us what *you* are all about. It's much better than SPAM. Also, I have noticed that you have written a lot of info as yours and that wasn't always the case...if you want people to know about something you have read (like Scott Cunninghams Incense, Oils and Brews, which, I have seen you post as if you were sharing your personal information) post about the book and recommend it. Try not to take offense by what people are saying here...:) We are just trying to be honest and that is not an easy thing to do without possible hurting someone. I hope you decide to stay here and share a little about your true self with us.:)

YES... you spam. You spam too much, you spam chronically all over the boards and you spam all the time. Spam = cut 'n paste jobs. Unoriginal, unnecessary repeated dribble. Also known as crap. Stop it.

I value your thoughts and your work, I like to see original work in all endeavors not one size fits all grey works from major publishers. Is it spam? I dont know, generally I dont bother with spam definitions. Spam to me is just pork shoulder packed in some sort of sticky compound that is a mess to clean up and descusting to see stuck to the meat cube.

but it was the spam that caused your removal. I feel that you
needed a more personal understanding of what SPAM and
SPAMMING is. If you really knew what it was then it is truly sad
that you would continue doing it. Your original posts were well
worth the read and response. If you return, I hope you take this
thread you started as helpful criticism(inspite of harsher
comments by some) instead of bashing. Please be well in your
path, and if you return, may it be in sunshine and good will.

Mol owns the server, so if he lets her then she'll be able to. If he notices her IP.

I voted "no" for lack of a better choice-- decided to be less negative and somewhat more tactful... sure, she spams, but I can think of a few others who are no better, posting messages simply for the sake of posting and adding on to their "amount" of messages posted. I won't name names, but I think you should know who you are. Maybe Lilith kept adding on pictures and such to her posts simply because she was so frustrated and angry with the world that she had to find a way to rebel and stand up to the whole oppressing public in some way? Yes, it is not exactly correct to vent your anger on one particular object (esp. not the fruit of someone's labour and mebbe even the light one's online life *grinz*) but there are times when we all need to release our feelings, oui? Have you never experienced the feeling of being an outcast, of being repudiated because of your beliefs, your mannerisms, your character? Banning her might be a necessary evil, but the other remarks were just plain harsh and scathing. Has no one ever thought about how she must have felt? Has no one even considered the possible depth of her hurt? Pause a while upon your path, and think-- it takes courage to stand up and do as Lilith did, asking others' for their opinion of her actions and knowing very well that this is a step she probably would not be able to undo. She might even have considered the fact that she could be banned. And I voted "no", despite the fact that I knew I would be the only one who did so, because I applaud that courage of sorts. I voted "no", because I admired the defiance of her spirit. And wherever you are now, Lilith Rain, I wish you "all the best".

Blessings,
Keron

very old thread....
the problem was that the spam she was in trouble for was not the
images stuff, it was all the stuff directly from her mailbox...tons of
it...filling the entire forum in many forums. So that you couldnt
surf topics without a lot of work. She was given many, and I mean
many chances, explanations about spam and the policy and never
made the attempt to stop...it was really sad. Her early posts when
she posted something original were quite good.
sad reminder.:(

Kaylara

Actually, the reason why she was banned was also because she was a member that was banned under another name. She came back under this name, and as soon as we figured it out, she was banned again.

If someone has to ask if they're posting spam, the answer is more likely yes than no.

Democracy sounds nice and pretty. . . but in the realm of online bulletin boards, benign totalitarianism is the best form of government. One person can be a leader--ten people can only be a committee.
