I hear of people whos patron God/dess come to them in dreams, or simply manifest in other area of their lives, yet i have never experiecedany of the deities in any particular way, perhaps im not trying to connect hard enough or they feel the time is simply not right?Any views would be welcome....xx

i'd say focus on strengthening your foundations. like meditation, visualization and concentration skills, working with breath and chakras, balanced lifestyle. so maybe it's not time, but it's not like you either 1.just wait or 2.just try harder. keep studying and practicing and enjoy the process.

Honestly, I'm not really one of those lucky people that the gods has just knocked on my door and announced themselves in dreams or meditations. There are deities that I feel closer to...and I have picked up little happenings that I have attributed to them.

I'd just learn as much as your can about the pantheon that interests you. That's what helped me out a lot.

Sometimes we erisians wish that Eris wouldn't manifest herself so much to us.

There is nothing worse then a deity that knocks on your door in the middle of the night, suitcases in hand, asking you if she can crash on your couch.

Next thing you know, her lady dainties are hanging all over the shower, the Moscow circus is in your living room, your faucet pours out Jagermeister, your closet is now a trans dimensional portal,Athena is making out with Ishtar,Slayer is playing in your living room(the actual band, mind you) and a Viking mosh pit breaks out.
Then things get weird.

And you have to wake up early in the morning to go to work.

You say that like it's a BAD thing.

I've experienced something where I was doing a meditation and I had Inanna come and show me her descent. After her descent, I had opened my eyes and focus on my crystal ball and had her face appear to me. While focusing on her, a dark-haired lady came in and took my attention and I noticed features that I have never seen before and can only attribute them to Lilithu. I think that was Lilithu's way of saying, I'm ready to teach you now.

...or maybe you are trying *too* hard. Relax and let them manifest to you in whatever way they will. Concentrating too hard and thinking about it too much is probably limiting what you are able to notice. Just take a deep breath, relax, and be open to whatever deity forms that manifest to you, and for goodness sakes, be patient!:)

As others have said, be patient and take your time. Another thing to remember is not everyone 'sees', some sense better or for example may be outside meditating by a tree and suddenly see a stag or something else happens that is significant, but isn't a face or whatever. The key thing is to find a way of meditating etc that works for you. Some have mentioned for example chakra work etc - personally for me I'm not so in tune with that, but I have other methods. There are people who meditate whilst gardening.

Have you done a ritual where you declare your openness to take the first step. Asking for signs along the way sometimes helps. Try not to focus on a particular deity, work with the energies of the place you're at for example can help. Also, remember not to over-interpret, sometimes the swarm of bees is just that a swarm of bees, not a Bee God! <WG> Everyone takes their own time, there is no better or worse, everyone is ready at different times and I know a few people that work with a more fluid concept of deity, so be open to that.

Dustypuppy, remember that everyone's relationship with their Patron/ess is unique and different to themselves. I haven't had Artemis come knock on my door and announce herself to me, however, She is the one I have the most connections to, therefore I call Her my patron Deity.

You may perhaps be trying too hard. When they are meant to come into your life, they will. In the meantime, it doesn't mean that you can't build a foundation with the generalized version of the Lord and Lady, for example, or research those Gods/Goddesses that appeal to you. :)

I didn't read all the replys so if I repeat something I apologise.

I find that the Gods (in whatever way you see them) are there, but don't particularly like us. They can hear you, but like a parent teaching their child to earn privlages, they want you to prove to them what you are saying. Show them that when life gets in the way you still make them a priority. Be the same person in public as you are at home. Apeal to their sence of humor. Prasie them. If you watch a stunning thunderstorm, for example, cheer them on! Forget what people might think of you. If you are completely comfortable and confident in yourself and your religion the Gods will see that. Sometimes we don't realise that we are ashamed. I didn't realise. It was only after I had resolved to myself to be proud that the Goddess came to me, handed something to me (I can't say what), and said, "Come child, I have a job for you."
