Last night I was trying to fall asleep when a very weird (and scary at the time) experience happened to me. I felt like someone was embracing me. It felt like when someone comes behind you and wraps an arm around your front and nudges their head against the back of your head/neck. It was very warm and comforting at first.

Then it felt like the embrace changed and it was pulling me downward, out of my body. I fought it was succeeded not going (outta sheer fear, probably shouldn't've). The second time it came at me I remember reaching for the lamp but the lamp didn't work and then I realized I hadn't actually moved my heads and back I was again in my body.

I'm not sure if it was all a weird dream (it felt too real to be a dream, though) or what. I'm wondering if ya'll's had similar experiences.

Maybe it's not "someone else". Maybe you're just astral projecting and what you are feeling is "you" trying to get back into your body. If you're not use to AP,it would be a little scary or strange feeling. JMHO

Don't have time to look for the links, but what you just described sounds like sleep paralysis. It's perfectly harmless, though scary. Just do a search for it on yahoo or some other engine.

Looked up sleep paralysis and it doesn't seem like it at all. Because I was able to move my body, if only in my mind. It does sound like the hallucination part, but the rest didn't fit. I was able to snap out of it once I realized I hadn't moved my hands so it wasn't as if I was paralysised.

yep. can't tell you what it is tho... never really tried to find out. but... i'm notorious for feeling things around me, so i just kind of thought i was just being 'overly sensitive' or something and shrugged it off.

You probably did astral projection. But, I don't know about the thing hugging and tugging you. Maybe it caused you to project.

Actually, that's pretty typical (it's how mine works, anyway). Basically, the part of your brain that controls bodily movement is still asleep, and perhaps other parts as well, but a part of your mind is awake and realizes (eventually) that you're not moving and it's usually enough to jolt you awake completely...(at least, that's how one theory goes, and it makes sense to me).
