Actually, I believe this would be number 7. Number six didn't go over too well....pretty slow.....you'll find it a couple threads down from this one :)
Now, as to the answer....I always get my Greek and Romans mixed up..... the only Greek moon goddess I can think of at the moment is Diana...though I don't think she represented the new moon......hmmmm....... is it Hecate, maybe?

Depends on who you ask.
I believe I read somewhere in Stregheria lore that Diana is the Goddess of all moon cycles but her name is pronounced differently for each - ie. dee-anna for one, die-anna, another, dee-awna for another. I also read that some use a triad of Persephone/Demeter/Hecate and Persephone is the new moon.

hey manstranger it would be cool to learn about Russian mythology. I too don't know much about those myths. Funny, you should mention Baba Yaga. I was just reading about her this morning. What interesting myths! Supposedly, she was a man-eating demon in Slavonic myth and flew around in an iron kettle when she wished to travel. What else do people know about Baba Yaga?

Is she the one with a house that has chicken's feet and walks around? Though possibly I'm imagining that. Oh, and a fiery skull that she gave to Vasillissa the Fair.

Phoenixsong,
Yes, you are right about Baba Yaga. To be honest, I think that I have used up all my Baba Yaga knowledge.
