Does anyone else use Fairy Ring cards? The guide was written by Anna Franklin and the illustrations are by Paul Mason.

I love 'em. But the guide interpretations are breif, I was wondering where I can find other interpretations for these cards.

since the book uses celtic faeries, you could look for books about those instead of about this deck exactly?

But the guide interpretations are breif, Sometimes guides do that to make you rely more on your intution instead of book answers or definitions of cards.

True.

Does anyone actually use these cards?

I just got mine today.

They're pretty. I'm not sure yet if I'll be using them a lot. I need to get acquainted with them first. I'm going to read the accompanying book tomorrow.

Have you tried reading with them yet?

Yeah, pretty much. But this particular deck is not a Tarot deck. It's an oracle deck if I'm not mistaken. The cards would be in a totally different order and probably hold totally different meanings.

Oracle decks are not like the tradish Rider decks. They tell more about intuitive aspects and emotional states. They're less instructive and more directional, if that makes any sense. They are sort of a compass that you use to get through whatever situation you are asking about.

Guess the feeling I get from them is that they are more vague and less specific.

so if all the tarot decks are basicley the same other then
asthetic pleasing pictures to suit the majority of individual
taste, how in the world is there a choice involved?
Ive seen so called Shaman cards that follow the exact same
suit as rider, they are giving the person the illusion of choice
instead of actually giving you a choice.
maybe ive blinked or cracked my head open and just woke up
or something.
but i have to ask ya,when did using tarot become a religious
belief or practice?

Funny you should ask that...because as far as I am concerned they aren't. I used them for years before I was Pagan, and will probably continue to use them for years. They are calming, that's all it is for me. I can sit and just shuffle them and then put them back in order and be calmed, I don't actually have to read them.

Now about the Fairy Ring. I do use them and find them very good. It's actually one of the more acurate decks I have. I have always been one to go on intuition so when I first got them the book had just the right amount of information. Use what your gut is telling you instead of exactly what the book is telling you (it changes for each person and each reading everytime) and you should be able to read them just fine.

yeah, they're pretty good at predicting stuff. you just gotta make sure they're always cleansed or else they will give you a sucko reading, which only happened to me once. have fun with them!

I used them for the first time tonight. The two readings I did with them were pretty accurate. I had to keep referring to the book for the meanings, though. I'm not used to that. Other than that, I think I'm going to like working with these cards. :)

There are three schools of Tarot: Rider Waite, Crowley and Marseilles. They may look similar to the untrained eye, but they really aren't. Not if you bother studying them.
As for the many different looks in each system, that is all aesthetics. You chose whichever deck visually appeals to you the most. Therein lies the choice.

As far as I know, Tarot is primarily a divination tool. As far as religious practices go, cards can be incorporated in a religious ritual, or can be used to focus the mind during meditation. Tarot is not, however, the source of the religious practice. It's just a tool.

I agree.

I use Tarot cards for spellwork. I haven't tried yet but, I have a feeling the Fairy Ring cards are going to work really well for that.

My Fairy Ring Deck scares me,it knows me too well, and seems to have a life of its own.I spend time praying before doing anything with them.
And I ask the Goddess to give me a true reading.

I dont know much about Tarot cards either,Im still learning.

i looooove my fairy ring cards! they're freakishly accurate. i guess i'm a little afraid to... maybe i shouldn't know what's to come.

it's interesting... back around when i posted this i had a real life male "friend" who wasn't treating me very well... we didn't talk for a month or so... and then out of the blue he started iming me all the time, saying he's sorry and he wants to make it up to me. he totally kept hinting that he wanted to sleep with me, but he said we could take things slow. i was intrigued, loving that someone thought i was THAT sexy. well my friends said i should stay away. but i was lonely and liked the attention. i didn't know what to do. i pulled out my fairy ring cards and the reversed jack frost kept comming up. like seriously! i asked about him and it came up. i dropped a card, it came up. it came up about 8 times. i was certain that the cards were right that he was a fantastic liar who wants to play me (or something like that, i don't remember now). it was soooooo freaky because i went on google that day (to research something else) and jack frost even popped up on there!

i told him to back off. he insisted we should be together. thinking i wouldn't get attached cuz i knew his game, i agreed to be his "valentine." he stood me up... i was so upset. but luckily i had this internet friend (who lived in my area) who took me out and paid for an anti-valentine's day lunch. he made me feel so much better!

i totally gave it to the player after that. he still ims me sometimes, but i don't talk to him.

Hi,

I have the Fairy Ring, but tend to fall back on Ann Franklins Sacred Circle and a few other tarot decks for readings.

The images are supposed to be triggers for your subconsious they may not match what the book or author feelings are. So YES read the book, look into what the other images on the deck mean (ie what does a bee represent and why is it on this card..) then let your subconsious take over. You may find the meanings in the book don't match what you think the card represent (and YOUR right, not the book).

SO with spellwork, pick the card that matches the intent of your spell according to YOU not the book. This way it will guide your subconsious on the journey of the spell.

PS..Fairy decks have a mind of their own..Keep an eye on them, my Froud Fairie Oracle tend to travel around and hide..NO JOKE..

I thought about starting a new thread but decided to go ahead and post to this older one because it's the one that prompted me to go ahead and order these cards. I just received my Fairy Ring Oracle cards in the mail today...
I just love getting new cards. The artwork on these are gorgeous and I can't wait to delve into the book and learn more about them and how to read with them.

oh, that's really cool. glad my post inspired you! this deck is really lovable. i've been feeling very connected to it lately. i went on a day trip last week, and i asked in the morning how my day was going to go, and the cards said i was going to have extremely bad luck. everything did end up going wrong that day!

I've been looking through the cards quite a bit this evening, trying to get a feel for them, flipping through the book. I'm dying to do a reading with them, but wanting to take my time and get to know them a bit more first.

Sorry you had a bad day last week sybba_leigh ... but at least you had a heads-up, right? ;)

thanks lol. it was so weird, my brother and me had train delays, we both got hurt, we got lost, no service on our phones/low battery (even though we had just charged it), we got major sun burn, etc. the only good part was that i did the reading in front of my brother that morning, so he got to see how accurate cards can be!!!

what card do you like the best so far? i <3 tryamour. so much that i made my username tryamourx!

its basically the higher self that choses the cards, right? your higher self knows the cards well and is all psychic and knows what cards to pick?

I can't seem to narrow it down just yet. My three favorites so far are The Elder Queen, The Lake Maiden and Brownie hehe.

I'm still trying to get to know a little bit about each one though so that may change.

I work with the fairy ring deck and it is my way to connect with my guides. They are very truthful more like blatant! Everything that I know to be true and will not accept is confirmed by this deck. If you are ready for truth then there is nothing to fear. Though I've found my fairy ring cards do need more cleansing than my other decks. But, that can be because, of the way I use them.

Everyone's experience will be different. I personally find them a joy to connect with.

that is the general thinking behind it... the idea is randomness...

typically your subconscious will arrange the cards when you shuffle them..
and the more you play with them, (look through them and gaze at them)
each time you shuffle them it is your subconcious that arranges them for you..

(that's what ive been reading in my studies)
