Practical Rune Magic

Ok the stuck threads for Rick's rune magic are really useful but uhm they're kind of getting crowded with all his great stuff.

So as long as Rick doesn't mind (let me know), I decided to stick a master thread to all of them so you can find them all but still don't have to scroll down past all of them to get to the newer threads, and also make it easier to know which one related to what purpose (since I was finding myself going through all of them searching for the right one).

well, I grew up in Iowa and the only thing in the corn fields is the corn, and maybe some guys doing drugs, but other than that...no Gotham City:D

I just bought this book called A Practical Guide to The Runes by Lisa Peschel. Has anyone read this one? Does anyone have an opinion on it?

I've not read the book, but Peschel is a well respected author in this field, & comes highly recommended.

Thanks for the response. That makes me feel better about buying it. Next time I think I'll ask for opinions before I buy the book. That way I'll know if its worth it or not. I haven't started on it yet, getting things together and trying to write my own Samhien Ritual. Thank you anyway.

wile writing a rune gremwar I got a bind rune of GO pairthra dice cup spilling out giba with ansus for good luck to make gibu auja and foeh money , then Loki decided to play , I know pairthra should empty to the right spilling out good luck and money but damn Loki started in with "you're right or the talismans right ? Helrunar by Jan Fries is an excellent book, although I'd say it's more geared to those that have studied runecraft awhile rather than the beginner. If you know of a source that has copies in stock, let me know... I've been trying to get a couple to give as gifts.

I am not familiar with T. Karlsson or his work, but I am familiar with the "uthark" theory, & can find no basis in either Rune Lore or Tradition to give it any credence.

I have a bunch of tealights (those small round candles that fit well in oil burners) around constantly. Do you see any problem using these instead of votives?

I find that the success of any magickal activity is directly related to your visualisation ability and the strength of your positive attitude. Runes are great for doing small scale magickal operations. I've developed my own technique which basically involves:
Chosing the relevant rune for solving your problem or bringing about desired outcome. For example if you have experiences an injustice you might want to choose the Tyr rune or if having financial difficulties the Feoh rune.
Relaxation exercises and meditations. This is basically for getting into a trance-like level of concousness.
One of the meditations involves meditating on the meaning of the rune. This can achieve a very deep understanding of what a particular rune symbolises. It purpose if for your own inner being to attune yourself with the rune. By becoming one with the rune's mean you and the rune are one and you obtain the inner power of the rune.
The next stage is the visualisation of the outcome. By being at one with the rune you can draw power into the visualisation. This will help you to attract the desired outcome.
