A few months ago, I bought the Motherpeace deck after seeing a friend's. This deck was created by two women, Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel. Initially I bought Vicki Noble's book for interpretation. This book is very detailed and provides a great deal of history also. I later bought Karen Vogel's book, which is 1/10 the size of Ms. Noble's book. Her interpretations of the different cards are not always the same, and are sometimes pretty negative. I prefer to use the Noble book but I wonder if I just don't want to use Vogel's book because I do not like her interpretations - but not only that, they really don't seem to be accurate for me about half the time. When I use the Noble book, the meanings are about 99% accurate.

Since both of these people worked together to create this deck, I am baffled as to how they can have such different interpretations. Does anyone have an opinion?

Sure. Everyone who looks at a card will have their own interpretation of it. When you help create the deck you put your own meanings in . Tarot card meanings are always unique to the individual - this is because anyone who looks at it will pick out different elements (characters, tones, colour schemes, etc.) and will relate them to something different. For example I might see a character in the corner of the card with their body facing my direction but their face turned and think they represent someone spying on me; meanwhile my best friend might think that character represents someone who is ashamed and can't look at her for that shame.

Use whatever meaning works best for you - and if the book meaning ever doesn't feel right don't go by it! Once you get more practiced your own intuition will be more important then the book anyway.

Thank you for that reassurance. I was worried that I just didn't want to look at the negative meanings. Even when I use the first book and something doesn't make sense, it usually will in a short period of time. The second book hardly seems to apply at all. I'll rely more on my intuition.

I agree and would say ~ Just listen to your little voice as soon as it says something when you draw a card and turn it over! It is always right :sunny:

Thank you! Now if that Seven of Swords would just quit coming up - in this deck, it is a fox trying to figure a way over the fence to get at some chickens - very predatory - I got rid of the client that it was indicating for a long time and it's come up again twice in the last week! Hmmm, there is someone who has been pursuing me romantically...................

and what do fox's stand for? slyness? To me this is a tricky card too which can say someone or something or you are being a little bit devious! ;)

Well, it's not me being devious but I am going to be careful about the person I mentioned earlier. Thanks.

I know that! Seriously, it could mean that this person who is pursuing me may be devious - I hadn't considered that before you brought it up, so it was a good thing!

Heres a link for you that describes the average 7 of swords to help more
http://www.learntarot.com/s7.htm

Hope this helps and you can find out about this more ~ maybe do a reading on that card or the person you are thinking of? Some people think its bad not to ask there permission but each to there own and Tarot gives us the oppurtunity to find these things out.
