Could this be any less Pagan oriented? :D

Any of you moms (or dads to be fair) use regular cake mixes in an Easy Bake oven? I mean, if I save a few tablespoons of cake batter from a regular cake and let my daughter cook that, will it work? Or do I have to spend lots of $$$ on bright pink Barbie cake mix??? :D:D:D

Can ya guess what I am doing this morning?

Thanks!

Chris

IIRC, we used to use regular Betty Croker cake mix in the EZ back oven i had as a kid. Though that was 20 years ago. (WOW!) so I might be misremembering :p

I also rember using regular cake mixes in the easy bakes. I havnt used one in abot 17 years or so but I dont think they could have changed that much. Try it what the worst that could happen??? (may have to clean it out if it gets messy)

I just asked my sister. My niece has an easy bake oven. She uses regular cake mix but you have to keep it small. Apparently, the baking is done by a hot light bulb? I never had one...always wanted one, though.

ok-my 3 year old just got one for christmas. Yes you can use regular batter. Yes you do only use a minimal amount-maybe 3 Tbsp. I'm not positive but that sounds/looks like about the amount. It's just enough to cover the bottom of the pan in a thick layer. Yes it does cook with a lightbulb. We even used premade chocolate chip cookie dough. I pat it down so it covered and filled the cake pan about 1/2 way up, it took about 15-20 minutes (you definately have to watch it) and it was this perfect cookie! :) Same with the (real) cake mix you have to watch it because I don't think the cooking times are the same. Good luck!

Just a note

we used regular cake batter/brownie batter/ cookie dough/bleberry bread mix whatever

The only thing is dont use a lot. Plus they can make little cookie size cakes/brownies whatever that way and you don't have to spend any extra money!!

when ever I was going to bake we would just set up the oven when we put the "real" oven to preheat and bake together.

It was so fun for all of us!

Now of course she is old enough to just use the real oven and handle whatever and THAT is fun too.

not to brag, but I am a bachelor and I still use my EZ bake oven
to cook with! HAHA LOL

As kids we cooked everything in it! Whenever mom made
anything she would give us a small amount and viola' we were in
business! mmm mm good!

PS also, mini pizzas! very good, but watch em'

I remember my easy bake oven!! Who'd have thought how much fun that light bulb could be?

Who invented it, anyway? LOL

flar you are too funny :p:p

Great ideas everyone- I think I will do that- just give her a bit of whatever I am cooking. And pizzas...yum!

Chris

PS: I am sure I will be back at some point asking how to get pizza dough off the top inside of the oven :D

I may be able to help with the cleaning the e-z bake oven issue....... use a little MR.Clean (or similar product) diluted with water in a spray bottle and spray the inside. Let sit for a while and it should wipe clean after that. (be sure to rinse out the inside with water after that so it doesn't get in the food later).

I say dont clean it! Leave it, it adds to the flavor of the next
entree! LOL :nyah:
