Though for a long time I have had an interest in tarot I have never bought or read any. I don't even know that much about how it's done, card meanings etc. I have a friend who owns a shop in town, their sell crystals, candles, insence...... I got to know her when I was in there looking at some jewellery and explaining to my bf how the technique used in a specific piece we were looking at is done, she over heard andwe were talking and I said I make jewellery, which lead to her asking to see some and then buying some for the shop. So I in there quite often and buy a lot of my crystals and insence in there. Today I was suppost to be helping her set up an ebay shop but we got distracted lol and were looking through some stones (as I am making some properties of... cards for her) and I noticed a set of cards and felt as though I need to look at them, as if they were calling to me. Unfortunatly I couldn't afford them and was going to ask if I could pay some now and the rest next week, but she said I could have them as payment for the cards I am doing for her! :)

This is getting a bit long, sorry. What I wanted to ask was is it true that I should never do a reading for myself or use the cards for myself? I don't think I know anyone who would be interested so how do you practice and learn to use the cards?

Thank you :)

There's nothing wrong with reading for yourself or using the cards for yourself, as in meditate with them and such.

I read for myself all the time. Works just fine. :)

I read for myself quite often. Some people don't like to simply because they find it hard to be objective

Reading for yourself is a great way to learn. A tip for reading yourself? Do the reading, then WRITE down the cards and your interpretation of them. THEN go back and apply the interpretations to yourself.

Too many times, one will do a reading, look at the cards, manipulate the interpretation to fit them rather than the situation.

The key step to reading yourself is to think that you are reading someone else. That way you don't misinterprate the cards.

Does that make any sense??

yes, thank you. My boyfriend is convinced that is it bad luck or even dangerous to read for yourself

It's not bad luck, just most people interpret differently when reading themselves.

Now, another thing you may wish to do, is try Reading Exchanges. You read for someone, they read for you. That's another wonderful way to learn. That's how I got started!

ive stopped reading for myself... not tarot, but faery oricle and animal oricle cards because the way i interperated them (negitively due to depression) was making my situation worse and i believed it caused my relationship with my ex to fail... but thats just because i had a negative attitude so, as long as you dont interperate the cards badly or something i think its good to do readings for yourself...
