What does namaste mean? People are always saying it on here and I have no clue what you're talking about. :) Any help, please?

The meaning that I have been taught is "The Divine in Me Honors the Divine in You." This comes from Yoga practice. There may be others, I'd be interested to become aware of them.

Namaste is a Sanskrit word that is used as a greeting (as described above posts). It's also used as a sign of respect to an elder or holy person. You join your palms together & bow as you say Namaste. It is believed that the joining of the palms symbolizes the meeting of the two divine, your's & the other person, in humility - no one person higher than the other. Both are Divine. It is such a beautiful way of greeting someone.

I'm pretty sure it is pronounced as Na-mast-ay. That is how our Yoga instructor pronounces it.
