So, this started on the Anubis thread, but I thought it would be interesting to expand upon...
The Netjeru have very specific animals associated with them in AE, but what about here in the Western world? What animals native to your locale would you associate with what Netjeru, and why?

ok... because i already contributed on the other thread... I'll start.
With Aset, I always associated Crows, black birds, and larger birds like those. I also think that birds such as Ospreys would be her choice. I think it depends on the resources that are given in the place that you live.
I always Fox and Cayotes as what I think would be Yinepu's prime choices. I haven't thought of it more than that...

Yinepu- cyotes firstly, because of their loner nature and tendency to be carrion eaters. I can see Him as both wolves and foxes, though neither of those animals are common in my area. I also see Him in crows and ravens.
Djehuty- Herons.
Heru- falcons and hawks, primarily red-tailed hawks.
Geb- Canadian geese, of course. :)
Sekhmet- cougar
I'm not sure who I'd attribute the osprey to... think I'll meditate on that one.

hmm.. Bast: wild cats, ocelots, mountain lions.
Amun: Rams, and geese.
Yinepu: Coyotes, then foxes
HetHert: Hereford Cattle
Sekhmet: Mountain Lions, Bobcats
Aset: Mississippi Kites and other Kites
The Herus: Red-tailed Hawks, Ferruginous Hawks (there isn't a part of North America that doesn't have one breed of Hawk or another. :D )
Mut: Mountain Lions, Black Vultures
Djehuty: Scarlet Ibis, Heron
(Tried to think of one for Set, but couldn't...)

Well, I see Sebek in our saltwater crocs (as opposed to the Nile crocs). Beautiful creatures they are too. We have sacred ibis here too (Djehuty). Our Wedge tailed eagle is Someone, but I'm not sure who. Stunning bird. Just gorgeous. I'm torn between Ra and Heru-sa-Aset, or even Aset herself. I haven't really considered it, because between Sebek and Djehuty, we have both crocs and ibis here, so I haven't really been looking for other Names in the wildlife here. But, that's off the top of my head. I'm sure if I thought about it properly, I'd come up with something.

I can certainly see Bast in the lynx. :) Heru I seem to see in most birds of prey, Nebthet in most black birds. I also associate roe deers with Satet (as some sort of northern antelope), and herons with Djehuty. Hethert with the brown cows, Yinepu with foxes. I'm trying to equate Someone with squirrels, but I don't know Who that might be associated with yet. :)
