Just wondering how many other's here are legal ministers? If you are a reverend, did you become one so that you could actually perform functions like weddings and what not legally, or did you do it for "fun". I became a Rev. in 2004, and I actually do legal ceremonies. Just wondering how many other ULC Rev.'s are here at Mystic Wicks.---shuvanilu

I was ordained a couple of years ago. I did it at first becuause I thought it would be fun and then seriously started to think about doing weddings and things.

Too bad for me though. I live in BC and to the best of my knowledge I am not allowed to legally marry people. I can get up there and say all the words and what not but there has to be a JP as well to sign and stuff.

Yup, ordained in 2004 as well. I took it seriously. I know a lot of people that did do it just to call themselves "Reverend", but I'm not like that. I have done weddings already, and I have some more coming up. Just this past Samhain I handfasted a gay couple that are part of my organization. It was a really pretty ceremony. We did it at night just before our Samhain ritual. Most of the participants were robed, and we had burning torches and all kinds of stuff. The atmosphere was a little spooky, lol, but awesome.

Reverend here too. December of '02, or '03. How awful is that, I can't remember!

I haven't done public weddings, but I did our Handfasting and my parent's 25th Anniversary Dedication of Marriage (basically, I remarried them).

I am now in an area where Pagans aren't looked too kindly on, so I'm not registered, I was back in CA though.

My boyfriend and I were both ordained in 2004. Haven't done anything with it yet, but I'm sure there will be a need in the future.

Here. But not ULC.

I did it to weasel my way into a "substitute minister" position.

That didn't last long.

LB,
Has fled the podium more than once.

yep, back in '98 to marry my sister-in-law (no, no... to her husband! ).
i've done 6 or 7 since then, and a requiem, although i don't know why one needs to be ordained to do that.

i have a friend who also applied for a custom title. as her name is Cyn, she asked for and got 'Cardinal'. now she's Cardinal Cyn!

Same here, though here we have to re-register with the state yearly. One of the best things I ever did.:hahugh:
