Bankruptcy

I had NO idea where to put this, but it seems like a family issue. So here I am. :)

Has anyone ever filed for bankruptcy? Especially recently. I have some questions. Feel free to PM me if you are uncomfortable talking about it in "public"- I will keep our conversation totally confidential.

YES!!!! my husband and i had to file pretty recently so that we wouldnt get caught up in all of those dumb laws. the creditors were so bad they were calling my grandma! if you want to ask me any questions at all that is totally fine.

Well, I guess I just need to know the basics. What do I need to be prepared with when I go for a consultation? How did you decide on a lawyer? Did you have to pay anything up front? Because right now I have nothing - I mean NOTHING.
