Egads! My wife and I have been focusing on this site so much that we havent even planned out our Imbolc celebration...

Got to go work on that. Blessings!

Oh, and that sounds like a very good way to celebrate.

hhhmmmm plans er yeah we gotta get with it here. I am certain that some candle making lies ahead of me in the near future. Thats a great way to celebrate this time of year....not necessarily making them but lighting ones you have made. Candle magik is awesome with your own hand made candles. Great time for it....

Hey....no saps aloud. HEEHEE!!

and no sulking either...so cheer up.

My group is holding the ritual for the local Pagan Community Activities Center ~ the PCAC's first ritual, so it should be an exciting evening!

I really hope so! It's the kick-off to a six-week series of Pagan classes. A well, it's the first time my group has done a "totally public" ritual. :o)

No No No, rain is a blessing on Imbolc around here. It indicates a rich and bountiful harvest, you know, drought free...

We have a big dinner which used to be called "Feast of Planting" back in the day.

Over the past few weeks we have been making candles and straw baskets which we will use in ritual.

We light candles for every room of the house, as it was done by my grandmother to promote light and growth throughout the year.

We don't go out, especially with the kids, though we may take a walk in the park down the road from our house... we are limited by the gift of children, keeps us in often, particularly at night.

Have a blessed Imbolc

Well, it is our belief... I am sure it is not everyone's.

It is important, especially during the holidays, to find out what it means to you. Ask yourself questions, write them down...

What if it does rain? Is that good, why or why not?

Tradition is a funny thing. Some are born into it, some choose to follow it... few are actually initiates of the traditions they follow. Which typically means they have found the values of certain traditions to be similar to their own and follow them.

Most modern Witches are solitary. Following the tradition which best suits them, but not actually "belonging" to that tradition.

Make your own path, decide what is right for you. Follow the guidelines of those before you, but remember, they are just guidelines NOT law.

What does rain on Imbolc mean to you? Answer that and you are on your way to a far better understanding of Magick and Divinity.

Live True

For the holiday, I'll be getting together and celebrating with my group. I love this time of year.
I think that groundhog is going to hang out and play in the sunshine this year!

I dont want to pry, but what kind of group? Are you a Coven member? Or....

Just me being curious.

Love and Light.

i have NOTHING against covens but i dont think it is a nice word to use for them because it immediately makes them sound 'evil' even though i KNOW they are not. i think 'circle' is a better word. what do you think?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-- Posted by Litha on 7:00 pm on Dec. 31, 1969

I understand the curiousity and although there is that which I cannot speak of, I can say that I study and circle with the Proteus Coven of the Gardnerian Trad.

I think you are in a place where you don't have to worry about what others think.
Dictionary meaning of coven:a collection of individuals with similar interests or activities

So you might say that you and your friends or your coven are going to the mall to hang out...er whatever you guys like to do.
It is not a bad word. Even the catholic religion uses it...covenant....same thing.
Don't get caught up in the hype from Hollywood.

I have to interject. I think Coven is a beautiful word and I will always use it. i also think Witch is a beautiful word. I will always use that. I am a little in the "dont care" mode when it comes to what people approve of around me. I am not ashamed and I will never substitute. :) Anyway, thats what i think!

Also, a Circle, to me, is something I cast or that a Coven cast's. Thats my lingo...just so everyone knows.

may Love and Light surround you all!

I take the word circle as both a noun and a verb.
I am in a circle, I cast a circle and I circle with Proteus coven.
Also, I love the word coven, the entire vision I receive when I hear it brings only joy to me (:

I had to do my Imbolc ritual in my magickal room. Where I live it is too cold to be outside this time of year. There is ice and snow on the ground and its in the twenties outside. As a matter of fact, I haven't been able to do a ritual outside yet. I hear they are much more satisfying being out in nature. I just started doing them on Samhain last hear and since it has just been too cold. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I had a wonderful ritual in my room and the re-dedication portion was so moving I almost cried. It was beautiful. I hope everyone else's was just as memorable as mine was.

I love to celelbrate holdays! This past Yule I attended a large house party where the circle included the little ones. We exchanged gifts, had a great feast and sang pagan holiday songs until well into the night.
Last Beltaine I did two rituals outside one with a local group and one a week later in Central Park with New Moon NY. The first started at 5pm, was many hours long and we were all quite frozen after it was done.
The second was at noon and the weather was gorgeous. Everyone came to watch the half nekkid pagans weaving many colored ribbons around the Maypole. A lovely day overall.
This past Samhain I stayed in my own magickal room and did an online circle with some of my computer buddies. Went pretty well. It's nice to have your own space to do workings. My agnostic sweetie just trys to let me be when he realizes I'm "naked in that room again"....

The Pagan Community Activities Center's first get-together was a major success, and I think a huge leap for the Pagans i this town. I can't wait to do it all agian next week! ;-)

While only 10 people were able to make it ~ email flooded in from people who'll be there next week ~ and the room was so full of love and beautiful people that it was totally amazing! The energies at the UU are wonderful, anyway, but to actually do ritual there ~ WOW.

We had a huge potluck meal ~ tons of food that I can't recall most of. heh. Drumming, dancing, chanting. Great discussion about the Season ~ from different perspectives, and that made it even that much more wonderful!

My favorite moment?

We were trying to remember the words to a certain chant during the drum circle, when someone piped up, "Oh, I know!" and started drumming and chanting. The words? "Oh, yes, I know the muffin man, the muffin man, the muffin man! Oh yes I know the muffin man, who lives on Drury Lane!"

It was a wonderful, wonderful time. It was great seeting so many people, from different backgrounds, coming together in the same place for the same purpose.
