View Full Version : About interpreting readings and spreads (and a little help?)

I don't use formal spreads a lot. Well, actually, I don't read a lot.
So I'm a little unsure about how to properly read a spread.

For example, last night I did a reading for myself, and while most of it made sense, there are a couple things that I'm not sure about.
It was a seven card spread:

1. Past - Knight of Pentacles
2. Present situation - The Chariot
3. Hidden influences to be considered - Six of Wands
4. Attitudes of others around you - Strength
5. Best action to take - Justice
6. Obstacles in your path - Three of Pentacles
7. Outcome - Two of Wands

I'm wondering how the positions relate to one another, specifically, are the Obstacles in the way or blocking me from taking the best action? Is that what it means? Or are they generic obstacles?

The reason I'm confused, I guess, is because I'm not sure how to interpret the Three of Pentacles in that position, relating to Justice.
I think I know what Justice means there (that I need to be objective and honest with myself, I need to look at all the "evidence" and make a decision based on it).
(My reading focused on the problem of a decision I have to make about the path of my career plans).

So, yeah, the main problem I'm having, is, how would the Three of Pentacles represent obstacles?

Also, I know I'm sometimes unclear in expressing myself, so if you need clarification, just let me know. :)

Hmm. I wonder if it's unclear to me because one of my weaknesses is formulating the question to be asked. Is it very unclear to define a situation and then ask for insight into it, if one is using such a spread as I did?

I would think that the Obstacle is what is standing in the way of your Outcome.

It relates to the Justice card here, since you are interpreting Justice to mean fairness & objectivity, perhaps the 3 of Pents is suggesting that you not let your opinion of your capabilities (over or under qualified?) cloud your judgement.

Did that makes sense? :)

According to my deck the 3 of pents (Shields in my deck) would mean that family pride is your obstacle and I can see where that would relate in your situation.

Thanks, both of you. You both helped to shed some light on that for me. :)
