Free for the day

I am sooo excited!! I am free for the day tomorrow and get to go hiking with some friends!! We are going to Mohonk Mountain, which is a very beautiful place!! It's not often that I get to go and do something peaceful without being in Mom mode or wife mode! It's been months since I did anything for ME and I really need this. The group I go with is cool...everyone brings walkmans so if you don't want to chat and just want to get lost in yourself for a while it's ok!! NO pressure!! Nature!! Can you tell I don't get out much??!!;) :p :D

Funny I just watched Last of the Mohicans on FX, that's a good movie. Is that the same part of upstate new york where that drama unfolded almost two centuies ago???

You know Ill, I never thought about that particular event when I've been up there. But I think, and I'm not sure, but I think Last of the Mohicans took place further upstate in the Mohawk Mtns. which is more West of this group. Minnewaska is part of the Catskill range.

The views are ABSOLUTELY gorgeous from up there. And there are waterfalls. Wonderful waterfalls. It was one of the first places I took my son when he was about 6. We had sooo much fun. People rock climb up there too.

The hike was great...we did 8 miles! It wasn't too cold so I enjoyed myself. The group I went with is a rather quiet bunch and we all bought headphones so we could just be "alone" with ourselves and nature for a while and not have to listen to chatter if we did not want to. I got lost in my music and just strolled along. It was a very peaceful day. Well, ummm except for my almost asthma attack and my hubby paging me on my cell!!! Even on top of a mountain you can't get away from it all!!:rolleyes: :p


Chryssi I'm not sure how long it would take you to get there. I tried to post a link but it did not work...if you do a search for Mohonk Mountain you can find out how far it is from you.
