I love this artist and was really excited to see the cards, because I thought they were Tarot.. but my mom said they were just mini paintings. What do you guys think? Should I buy them anyway?:awilly:

No, it's definitely not a Tarot deck.

It looks more like an oracle deck. Looks real nice, though. Amy Brown is very talented. :)

Generally speaking, a tarot deck has both a major and a minor arcana. 22 cards in the major and 56 cars in the minor for a total of 78 cards. Anything else is generally considered an oracle deck. Unless I'm forgetting another classification besides those two?

Forgot to add: I've read with both types of decks and enjoyed all the decks I've tried. I have one of each myself (Hanson-Roberts tarot and Crystal Ally oracle) as well as several sets of hand-made runes. If the pictures in this deck speak to you, then go ahead and buy it. You can always get a tarot deck later on.

Very similar to tarot but not the same. Really cool though! I love Amy Brown's work. Thanks for asking the question otherwise I'd have never know about these. I'm gonna order mine right now!

Yep, that's an Oracle & not a Tarot.

While I like Amy Brown's art very much, I probably wouldn't buy this deck. Mostly I want an Oracle or Tarot that I can use as such (for divination) and these types of decks just seem to be more like collectibles than actual working decks.

If you're looking for a Faerie deck that you want to actually use, rather than just collect, try Brian Froud's Faerie Oracle. :)

I agree. If they work out for you for divination, that's great. If not, at least you'll have a nice set of artwork.:tarotwitc

There's a lot of divination decks out there other than just Tarot. :tarotwitc
They have different flavors. Some are very spiritual, and some tell you gossip...I love 'em all!
This one looks like an "advice for the day" type of deck.

BTW, when you like anything as much as you like these cards and this artist, don't worry if it's this or that, just get it!

Amy Brown is a wonderful artist, but that is not a Tarot deck. Buy it if you want, but keep in mind you won't be able to read them quite like Tarot cards.
