Merry Meet,

I've been studing Wicca for 1 1/r yrs now. I'm drawn to the celtic aspect for some reason. I think because I'm part Scottish. I've learned with some things, not to question just go with the flow. If I was meant to know the answer one would appear.

Are there any books that can explaing the different Goddess and Gods? I have one on Goddesses and heroines. I'd like to find something that might be broked down by "area" or "type." Suck as Celtic grouped together, Egyptian, Italian, etc.

I'd like to learn more about the Celtic Goddesses and Gods but not have to hunt and figure out which is which.

Any help would be appreaciated.

Bright Blessing!

Hi, Waterlily :)

The best books on Goddesses and Gods that I've found would have to be, IMO, "The Witches Goddess" and "The Witches God" by Janet and Stuart Farrar. They are practically encyclopedias of gods and goddesses, and provide some history as well....they're definately worth checking out.
That's about all I can think of....you may get some more suggestions in the Book forum.....

Ancient and Shining Ones (I think it's title got changed to Magick of the Gods and Goddesses.) by D.J.Conway. It's good for a very general reference. It's grouped by region and has some general info on the religious practices for each region as well as some myths and a decent description of many Gods/Goddesses.

Merry Meet,

Thanks for all the help. It's difficult to find decent books on the Goddesses and Gods. People look at me funny and tell to look under Greek and Roman mythology. Thst's great, but not what I need. I'll check out these books.

Bright Blessings,

Maiden, Mother, Crone by D.J. Conway is an excellent one on the goddesses. Patricia Monahan has several, one being The New Book of Goddesses and Heroines.

I haven't found one yet that I like on the gods. Would appreciate recommendations!

Just read your post again - and you CAN find lots of info in the Mythology section if you are interested in the stories behind the gods and goddesses, although you will find more history than magickal applications. I also just found the most beautiful book on a bargain table at Barnes and Noble: Goddess by Jalala Bonheim. It has beautiful artwork, stories, chants and poems about quite a few goddesses, and even a section on Mary.
