Of course you can go and buy a polishing mashine but they are pretty costy and there are cheaper alternatives.
I have been introduced into one such alternative myself, and have to say, it is really worth the thought.
you need a laundromat / washing mashine, as that kind you do laundry with. you wont need a new one. in fact, if the metal barrel is holey, or the mashines outside is bumped, you will be fine off, for you wont need those parts anyway.
so best you ask a machine repair service or maybe even look at junk yards to get a mashine where the engine still works.
you take off the coating of the mashine, and put away the barell. Instead you attach polishing belts.
Those belts you can get in polishing supplies stores, and they are a lot cheaper in the long run, than working with polishing disks.
The engine of a laundy mashine often comes with different speeds - which is perfect for your work withz stones. the second big plus of this mashine system, is that you hold the stone in your hands, while the mashine is fixed. while in most cases where you have the mashine in your hands, you cannot control its outcome as sensibly.
so there is your polishing mashine; most of the costs are the belts, for you cannot substitute them as far as know
but maybe some of you people will have similar ideas. so feel free adding your knowledge as well
