Hi all,
Here's some good news for a change.The Shrub has given up on his efforts to open up the ANWR(Alaskan or Arctic National Wildlife Refuge)to oil and gas exploration..A small victory.The Senate had voted last year 51-49 to open it up.Clinton didn't let them and with the new Senate there just aren't enough votes for the Shrub to do it.He defended his idea to do so,though.Said we just don't have enough alternate energy resources to worry about the environment right now.(I am paraphrasing)

Hi all!
Hey Mystique.Your PM from1984 through 90 or so was a guy named Mulroney.He was a former President of Canadian Bechtel.Bush and Reagan had a lot of Bechtel influence in their cabinets.This is a big Multinational with lots of influence,a big oil company with lots of subsidiaries.They really pushed and put a lot of money behind the guy,so they got one of their own.Beware,I figure the Shrub will do something similar.They'll try to get a PM in Canada that's friendly to the oil biz.So be vigilant in your next election,if the right wins, your environment will be next.
