Um,Hi. I was just wondering how you know if you are depressed. I know you could go to the doctor...and they would do tests and you would find out...but....what are some major signs???? Are any of you depressed? If so......I dont know, info would be nice. Also if you go to the doctor, what sort of tests do they do??? Yeah,thanks.....I guess that is all I have to ask. Adios and Blessed Be-

well, problems with your sleep patterns are a symptom, a sense
of unwellness or disconnection also qualify. Tired all the time,
dont want to do anything. Dont care about stuff. Thoughts of
suicide(VERY SERIOUS, SPEAK OUT ABOUT IT!) and other things...
check some of the other forums too, like healthy pagan.

A couple of months ago, the ex-love of my life showed up on my doorstep after 2 years. He turned out to be a worse momzer than I remembered. He treated me like drek & couldn't figure out why I was so irate. (Republicans...they're still pissed off because women got the vote.)
Anyway, it messed me up for a while, & nobody I knew seemed to care.
I looked at some 'depression' web sites, took a couple 'Are you depressed?' quizes, & found out that I should run as fast as I could to the nearest therapist.
I didn't. I figured out that most of my depression was self-inflicted because I was so busy beating myself up over having carried a torch for a real momzer for so long.
I decided I was done flogging myself. I went out & got myself a present & some chocolate (hey-it works for me), then I made "Michael" my new swear word. (Apologies to anyone else named Michael!)
I realize this won't work for everyone. There is help out there for the kind of depression that chocolate won't work for.
Good Luck, sweetie!
(Huh? Momzer? Drek? Never mind. They're Yiddish. And rude)
Living well is the best revenge.

You might try the Healthy Pagan as well, in particular http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7236

And see a doctor. :)

Depression and clinical depression, as far as I can see, are towo different things. Depression has come, in everyday language to mean you're fed up, and a bit upset. Clinical depression (we were talking about it in psychology class today, you see) is when basically, you're so upset you just can't be bothered. You don't wash your hair, you don't take showers, you don't brush your teeeth, you don't get up any more, you just stay in bed all day, and you really don't care what people say about it. Thougths of suicide etc are very common.
Yeh, I'd go see a doctor, like Myst said, if you're at all worried :D

Just don't keep it locked up inside. Thats the worst thing to do. Talk to a close friend, family member or doctor. Just get it out
