pennies and a black candle

Question

A friend of mine told me about a spell where you take a black candle put 1 penny to the W, 1 to the E, 1 to the N and 3 to the S. Making a "cross" of sorts You light the candle at midnight and leave. You go back in the morning and the drippings will tell you where money is to come from in your life.

Here are the questions:

ever heard of this?
know where it came from?
specifically who the spell is connecting with? A certain diety??

Im afraid to say I havent heard of this spell. Im not really good on spells...

Actually I hadn't gotten any help here and thought maybe someone wuld think of it as divining like reading the cards or palms or wax (in this case).:)

Doesn't look like any of our 2000 posters know.:(

It does fit with divination but as you were asking about the spell I thought.. well.. anyway!

I suppose you have to do the spell but how do the drippings tell you where your $ is coming from?

A light bulb just went off! :D I've just started reading Exploring Candle Magick by Patricia Telesco. I've just skimmed through something that talks about diviniation using candle wax. You read by looking at the shape & position of the drippings. It gave a list of shapes & it's meanings of what each shape meant.
