Does anyone here have any information on Lilith or worship her, it's just i feel there might be a kind of connection there, and i'd like to learn more about her, if you do worship her, what have your experiences been like, also, are there any books on her or sites, i knew she's a Jewish goddess so are there any books published on Jewish folklore that might have stories of her in it.

Thanks for any help you can give.

did you check the search function?
i'd be willing to bet that there are as many threads here regarding Lilith as any other goddess.

and you are really limiting yourself if you only research Her from a Jewish background. here's a hint... try Sumerian.

There's a brief note on Lilith at the bottom of this page: http://www.gatewaystobabylon.com/gods/ladies/goddessketches.htm

Like the author, I had also been under the impression that Lilith was traditionally seen in Jewish literature as a demon. Same goes for Lilitu in Akkadian mythology. I gather that viewing Lilith as a goddess may be a modern belief for pagans?

Thanks everyone for the help, you've given me some great places to look. I'm going to look at her from different backgrounds, not just the Jewish one, i just thought i'd add the Jewish background 'cause i thought Lilith is, mainly a Jewish goddess (although i do know she has a Sumerian background, which i'm going to look into).

Anyway, thanks again :).

Yeah, Lilith is in Sumerian mythology, but as a demon, not a goddess.

I don't worship her but I kind of like her oddly since it seems I shouldn't. I think it depends on the source if she's a vampyre, demon, or goddess. It really varies a lot. But, I like her free spirit and independence. I don't worship or pray to her though.

I only recently watched a program on the History Cannel, called Mysteries of the Bible. It was on Lilith. According to this program, Lilith was Adam's first wife. Even the Jewish Scholars apparently seem to agree on this.

However, because Lilith would not submit to Adam, believing that she was his equal, she said (according to legend) "God's secret name" and vanished. Apparently this is one of the reasons that she became demonized. That's pretty much what was portrayed in the program. It was quite interesting.
You might start here and see if you can dig anything up:

That's why I consider her to be the first witch, since by speaking God's name she,in effect, cast the first spell.

Working with Lilith is a way for someone to get in touch with their shadow side. She is good for learning how to become more assertive and stand up for yourself. She can help with self-esteem problems, as well.

BTW there are tons of threads on her if you'll do a forum search.

here's a good one: http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=75620

Lilith would not take any crap from Adam, so she went back to heaven & for this she was demonized by the Jews & Christians.
