Final project paper on Satanism

Sorry, I'm not sure where to put this...so, to those of you with power to do such things, move this where you'd like!!


I'm taking a world religions class at my college and for our final project, we have to research any religion we want and write a paper on it. I've chosen Satanism because I really don't know anything about it at all.

I'm looking for some help, as well! If you know a lot about this topic, practice it, know someone that practices it, anything that gives you a pretty good cache of knowledge, please PM me!

I'd like to start off just knowing the basics and if you're willing, I'd like to ask you more questions and kind of turn it into an interview. And, of course, all information will be confidential unless you allow me otherwise :)

For starters you might try the Church of Satan's w-site for some info. Nothing like getting it straight from the horse's mouth!

The Church of Satan would be a great one to start for Laveyan Satanism (symbolic and more humanistic, they don't actually believe in Satan as a god, he's a symbol).

For the Theistic Satanists, i'd definitely recommend Diane Vera's site (http://www.theistic-satanism.org/index.html), as it's one of the best Satanists sites out there, and some of her beliefs (and the Church of Azazel's) match mine and have influenced my beliefs, a bit, also there's an article Diane Vera wrote here (http://www.theistic-satanism.org/scholar/research.html),

I'd also recommend Geifodd's site (http://www.theisticsatanism.com/geifodd/sitemap.html), he's part of Diane Vera's Church of Azazel, i think and has some good articles.

Also, Jashan's site (http://www.jashan.net/sites/satanism/)is good, she's another Theistic Satanist.

The Temple of Set (http://www.xeper.org/pub/xp_main.htm), would also be a good place to start, this is the official site.

Balanone's Temple of Set page (http://www.balanone.info/), i don't think i've read this site a lot, but it seems cool.

The First Church of Satan (http://www.churchofsatan.org/)is also good, it's a Theistic site, i think, and it has some good information too.

Satanism Archive on necronomi (http://www.necronomi.com/magic/satanism/), i think provides some background to Satanism, so it might be good.

You may find some good information and maybe get interviews with Satanists, on the forums, here's a list (http://www.theistic-satanism.org/group/index.html)of them.

I think all these sites should help you out, and also on the forums, you might be able to ask people and get quotes.

You may also want to mention something about www.joyofsatan.com and the owners other site www.666blacksun.com (the owner is a neo-nazi, and seems to be calling for a 'war' against the Jews)

You might also want to check out this site on the owner (http://www.traditional-satanism.com/23index.html), the people who run the site hate the joy of satan and the owner (and neo-nazis), i'm not sure how correct it is, though. You might want to mention how Satanism attracts people of all political motivations or something (but if you do, try and say that the joy of satan is not representative of all Satanists).

I can't think of any books published on it, the only one is the Satanic bible by Anton Lavey, if you want to say something about the beliefs of the Church of Satan, and Laveyan satanists, then maybe you can try and read some of it or something.

There might be others who can help out more (i think there's a few Satanists on here), plus i'd recommend asking on the forums i've linked too, as you should get some answers.

"The Satanic Bible" by Anton Lavey would probably help you out a lot. I have it, and its a pretty interesting and informative read.
