View Full Version : A Pentagram board...??

I was bored the other day and wanted to make some sort of craft. I found a piece of 12"x12" wood and painted it black then painted a purple pentagram on the center. I also glued some stones on the corners. It looks really nice...but I don't know what to do with it! Could it be used for a divination board for my runes perhaps? Any ideas?

...call me old fashioned, or a traditionalist (but please don't call me late to supper :) ), but I wouldn't cast Runes on a pentagram... a pentagram has nothing to do with Rune Lore or Tradition... BUT... that doesn't mean there's any reason I can think of that should keep you from trying it, if you wish... you could also use regular dice with it (seems like there's a thread around here somewhere giving interpretations for each number of a single die, & for combinations of two dice).

Oo Laiste that sounds lovely! :)
I agree with Rick though and think a Pentagram doesnt really go with runes ~ more with the Tarot ~ and it sounds to be big enough to use as a spread board, so many you could use it for Tarot?
Or if you have any other Crystals maybe they would look really nice stood in the pentagram as an ornamental piece.
Or even...Try Candle scrying! and use the board to place a candle in the centre of the pentagram and gaze with it.
You have already made the board now all you have to do is make up a use for it ;)
I think it would be great used for all divination, especially with the power of the stones on it too :)

Thanks you two!! I understand your resoning for not using the runes. *slaps forehead*;) What was I thinking!! LOL
I really like the idea of using it as a candle scrying board! I will have to try that. Thanks for the idea.

It would make a nice wall hanging too (she says, remembering how Magestya wants to paint a big display on her wall and glue stones to it)

You could also use it as a centre for your altar too, if you have one. You could do candle spells or other such things on it perhaps even? Lots of options out there! Good luck!

lol yeah :boing: Myst you have got it! :boing:
Id love to paint a greek gods and goddesses scene with shells and dolphins.. yeah it sounds sooo girly but it wouldnt be all cute, it would be really cool in really nice bold dark colours.. My tiles in there already would fit really well as they are kind of whitey/silver/greyish fake marble with black and blue in them as a boarder, frieze pattern which looks very greek, and I have the three Venus' de Paulo on the wall as well as a round zodiac tile and one for the moon...I really have to start drawing up a rough sketch and getting to work on it....
:sunny:
Laiste have you tried anything out with your board yet?

Well I have decided to use the board as a wall hanging! It looks so cool above my bed in between to star shaped candle sconces! The decor in my bedroom is purple so it fits in very well. Only problem is when his family comes over I have to remember to take it down!!
My hubby brought home some wood from his job so I am working on some other boards too, one for my cards, the other for my runes (no pentagram on that one ;) ) and another for my alter!!
Thank you all for your great ideas!!

...what about making a board for pendulum use? There are others out there, but in my experience, pendulums work differently each time I pick one up--for example: what once indicated "yes" once may be "no" the next time.
Maybe if you put stones that could be moved around to indicate in which direction is "yes" for that particular session. Then, the next time you use it, the stones could be moved again.
Just an idea--what you've created so far sounds amazing! Keep up the good work!!!
