My question is simple wether the answer may not be.

Here's the question:
I'm starting to grow my catnip but how do you harvest the seeds so that I can plant more?

I know I'm jumping ahead of myself but I'm easily excited

:D You have to let the catnip flower, which will produce
buds similiar to what hippies love to smoke. :)
There you will have your seeds for replanting.

Dear Aurora - If it's true catnip (Nepeta cataria) and not catmint (N. faassenii, N. subsessillis, etc.) then you need to grow it somewhere safe from kitty. They will roll on it, chew it, sit on it, and destroy it before it gets a chance to set seed. If it's in your garden any neighboring plants will get trampled, too. I keep mine in a clay pot out of my cat's reach - easier said than done - and if I have extra seedlings I plant them in the wilder places of my yard away from other herbs, annuals, and perennials.
Happy Growing!

You could stick it in a hanging pot outside.

:D 6-8 months, depending when planted, to harvest
in fall. Female-male plants fertilize....female plants
produce flowers & seeds.
Cut the flowers, hang upside down to dry, and then
shake the seeds loose. :bigredgri
