I posted this in the Magic and Rituals forum, but someone suggested to put it in here. I was wondering does anyone know of any good resources for Ceremonial magic, like good books and sites, i'd like to learn a more about it.

I've heard it's about spiritual development and things like that, but is there anything else to it (like summoning, scrying, etc), i don't mind spiritual development, but i'm also interested in the practical magic of Ceremonial magic.

Hope that made some sense, and hope someone can help me :).

Thanks.

Personally, I'm not a ceremonialist, but a book that comes to mind, as well as "Hermetic Magic", is "The Magus". It's an old book, I remember thumbing through it during the early 80s one day oin an occult shop, and I noticed how heavily it seemed to lean on ceremonial magic. At the time, it didn't interest me at all, as I was looking for the new book by Doreen Valiente at the time.

Just thought I'd throw this in, in case you ever come across it again.

It's 3AM, and I'm bored, so I'm going through old cobwebs, and pulling out old posts that haven't been answered in almost a year.

Sorry that out of almost 200 views, nearly a year later, I come along and post the only reply to your thread. LOL...

Thanks, I've actually got The Magus as a PDF, from what I've read, it's really good (and I want to get Hermetic Magic by Stephen Flowers too).

"Modern Magick" is good to start with, but from my own experience, I would recommend you join an Order that can teach CM. Its a hell of a lot easier with a group giving a helping hand rather than starting from scratch on your own

Thanks for the recommendation, do you know of any good orders in the UK or London to be specific?, or do you know where I could find out.

Thanks :).

Ave,
I cant tell you exactly where to find any group in the UK since I dont live there :) I can tell you that there are a few Orders online that are mainly astral. the TGD is a Thelemic Order if Thelema is your thing. A note about the TGD. last I saw, the Order is no longer active. They have the material posted on the site so you can work the grades, but its basically a dead Order. There are a few online Golden Dawn groups, just do a google search for these. There is also the group Im a member of, OSDL, where the primary work is Enochian. So really, just look for online groups or maybe go to local bookshops and leave messages about an interest in joining groups. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, I'll do that.

I do have another question about Thelma, but I'll put that in another thread.

As far as I know, there are still initiations being conducted via TGD sanctuaries.

www.thelemicgoldendawn.org (http://www.thelemicgoldendawn.org) and http://www.thelemicgoldendawn.org/thoth.htm

(Though it's apparently US based, so that might be a problem.....unless you're rich, in which case, less of a problem)
