Does anyone have any family traditions for weddings? I'm not talking the "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue."
I found this website about and orange blossom and thought it was sweet that her descendants used it as well.

I don't know if my family has any. I do know my gran borrowed her dress from her sister in law. I think my gran and my mom both wore a pearl necklace. I can't really tell because of the neckline of my mom's dress. I can see a necklance, but I can't tell what kind it was. My mom wore a hat instead of a veil. I wish I knew what my ancestors wore, but I don't.

My mum and gran always said it's bad luck to wear your wedding dress again after your wedding day. That's the only wedding related thing I can think of...

I am not sure if it is a traditon..well...maybe it is...all of my cousins and I carried our great (or another great) grandmothers hanky. It had real lace and very delicatre. My mom got so pised that I got makeup on it!! We forgot to put kleenex by me and I needed something!!
Otherwise I also had my other grandmothers bible. Actually my mom held it, but it was there..I felt part of my grandma was there then.

Yes. We bang on the sides of our plates and wind glasses with butter knives to get the bride and groom to kiss :D

I remember reading in a cousins' wedding article that she put a coin in her shoe. It said it was a family tradition, but I don't know if it was from her father's side or my aunt's (her mother's).
I have an article of when another aunt was married. It mentions pearl earrings from her husband. My gran, her sister got a pearl necklace from my pop. My aunt also carried a white bible. (As did my gran),. Ooh and my aunt had a sixpence in her shoe. So maybe it is from my side. Hmm.
I'll have to ask about the sixpence thing sometime. I know my mom didn't have one, not with the shoes she wore.
I do have an Irish twopence. :tongueout
No one can remember how we got it, none of us have ever been to Ireland.
